I have wasted so much time watching something downloading or waiting for a channel to appear. I have not been able to watch anything in the evenings. So slow...I am so disappointed I can't watch Acorn TV like I thought I would. I will probably return if cannot get this issue resolved.

I tried it and was not happy seems to be more trouble than what it's worth. I went back to cable because of it and picture quality was horrible.

Remote is the WORST

Happy to have internet TV, but this Roku 2 Model 4210 remote makes me wish I had never purchase this product. It stopped working after two weeks, and the direction on pair tell me to press the pairing button under the battery cover. The problem is there is no button on this remote. I guess I will try a factory reset and have to set everything up again.

Old Roku 2 is better than the refresh

I bought a Roku 2 3d gen. 4210r to test its functionality against the model it replaced, the 4200. The older Roku 2 has composite video outs, so it will work on older tvs with rca inputs and a CRT screen, which actually gives a better picture than any LCD tv, despite its lack of high definition... you only really need HD for sports due to closeups of the athletes, any content that is narrative based SD looks fine, for the most part. The older Roku 2 does output a 4:3 image that is panned and scanned, so its not horizontally compressed... however, it is letterboxed, and I wish there were a zoom feature on it so you could zoom the image to fit your old tv. The new Roku 2 has the same processor as the Roku 3, so it is zippy, but the old Roku 2 was quick enough. It loses the rca outputs and the wi fi remote, adds the processor, and is supposedly Miracast capable.
I tested the Miracast capability of the new Roku 2. It worked, but at times it stuttered and lagged when linked wirelessly to a Windows 2 in 1 pc. I didn't test it on a miracast capable Android device. It's a beta feature... it needs more work.
Contrast the Miracast performance of the Microsoft Wireless Adapter, which worked perfectly with a Windows 2 in 1 pc, although I didn' test hat with an Android device, either. Don't have one that is Miracast capable.
I love my old Roku 2... I accept what it can do, and what it can't. It can get HBO GO, Watch Espn, and NBC Sports Live extra. It can't get Watch TNT or Universal Sports, unless you pay for them on Sling. I already do pay for those channels with a pay tv package, which at some point I will gun, but members of my household still prefer the traditional means of receiving channels via pay television. This drives me nuts, because Roku is dead simple, but what can you do?
Caveat with the new Roku 2 is the lack of sd outputs, the new remote is IR only and is not as easy to use as the older, thicker Wi Fi one... oh! The older remote also has headphone outs! That's great.
So, it seems to me that the new Roku 2 makes some concessions to meet a price point below the Roku 3, i.e. the remote. I think the wi fi remote with the headphone jack is worth the extra money, because it really does work... you can aim it anywhere, and boom, the menu flies. That being said, for a new Roku purchaser, I'd go with the Roku 3.
Or, alternately, wait for Roku 4, with an expanded in app store. Or the Apple TV refresh, which will definitely have an in app store.
You listening, Roku? I hope so.

Disappointing navigation

I bought Roku believing I could get prime news channels real time as I can with broadcast or cable. I can't!! I also cannot navigate to a movie I want without going to great effort; keying in the title of the movie doesn't seem to be an option. When I find the movie or show, there always is a charge for it.

NO ku to ROKU!

I was completely dissapointed. Netflix would not stream at all, though it does fine on my old WII system. I was never able to watch more than 3/4 of a movie without a complete reload. Several programs stopped and stuttered. Returned everything.
