A great way to save money

We recently moved to a new state and decided that since we couldn't continue our Dish Network service (we aren't able to acquire a signal at our new house), it would be a good time to try to cut back on unnecessary, extravagant (overpriced) spending. A couple of years ago, we switched to satellite TV from cable in an effort to save some money, but the savings weren't as great as we were initially led to believe they would be. And over time, our satellite TV bill had crept up to an amount we felt was too much for what we were using/getting. So enter the Roku 2! So far, we really like it. We've signed up for a couple of "apps" (Netflix and HBO) through Roku so we are able to view our most favorite shows and we even have several standard TV channels through the Sling TV "app" that I love for "mindless" TV viewing while I'm doing chores around the house or whatever. Overall, we're spending only a third of what satellite TV cost us and we aren't really missing anything. There are a couple of channels that I'd like to receive but can't because they require a cable TV subscription to stream those channels, which is a bummer, but not a direct issue of the Roku. My one complaint (and the reason for only 4 stars) is that I've gotten very used to recording my shows and watching them at a later time more convenient to me. This is not an available function through the Roku, as far as I know. There are several channels/shows that have the option to "start the program over", but it isn't offered on every show and I have to find a show already in progress for this to even be an option. Overall, it's a small issue that doesn't significantly affect my opinion on the service. It's well worth the (relatively) small initial investment.

I received the Roku 2 for free when I signed up for Sling Tv, I absolutely love it, it is easy use. The remote already has 4 of the most used apps already on it no need to look on the home screen for Netflix, just press the button on the remote. I also like the search option on Roku, it will look thru all the platforms to find what you are looking for and which platform it's on. I have 2 firesticks, which I like, but I think the Roku is a lot easier to use.

No better than Roku Streaming Stick

I returned the Roku 2 after a trial and got my money back
because it was no faster or better than the Roku Streaming Stick and was a lot more expensive.

I bought the Roku 2 after reading reviews to view movies from websites on our TV. The other web casting ______Cast we have would cast the movies from the computer but the quality was terrible. The movies would pause and skip no matter what movie website I would cast from the computer. The Roku 2 is the Best! The movies are crisp and clear plus there is no pause or flickers while viewing. The menu options are awesome! The Roku 2 saves all your favorite movie websites and more! I could go on and on. I Highly Recommend The Roku 2!!!

I bought this thinking I could get my local channels on it. But NO Such Thing. Just short little stories that I don't care about. It ask me to put in my favorites but there is no options to see a list of by favorites. So sorry I spent the money on it.
