Roku makes it soooooooooooo easy to ditch your expensive cable/satellite service. Just get a good internet speed, which 98 - 99% of the U.S. has. Get it, do it and enjoy TV without the messy cords.

I bought my Roku to replace a cable box that is attached to my basement TV. I wanted to allow my kids to be able to watch Netflix and have access to other kids shows online. I was impressed with how easy it was to set up my Roku and how easy it is to operate.
The sheer number of streaming channels available (I think over 2000 now) is both a blessing and a curse. It's great to be able to search for content that my family and I are interested in. I would say, though, that it can be a bit overwhelming trying to find some channels. For instance, I searched for a fitness channel to stream workout videos and the number of options were so numerous that it was hard for me to find one that I thought would be good. Maybe Roku can add in more filtering mechanisms that will allow users to more narrowly define their searches. And maybe that technology is already there, but I've been too lazy to figure it out.
At any rate, I have been very impressed with my Roku and am glad that I bought it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The Roku 2 version performs just as well as the Roku 3, thanks for upgrading it and leaving it at an affordable price point. We use it for Sling TV, Netflix, Amazon & all the other channels associated with our cable subscription such as Travel, HGTV, Food Network & much more.

Fine streaming but interface seems outdated

As an Amazon Prime subscriber I am disappointed as to how many clicks it takes me to get to my Watchlist. After all, these are the shows I am most interested in seeing. I think I counted 12 clicks to get there. On my other Streaming TV one click on the Amazon icon and I am pointed to my Watchlist. That would be two clicks. Also, within my Watchlist you only show two rows of five items at a time. So to get to items at the far right you have to click away again across the screen to get to them. Why not a lot more icons shown at the same time organized logically, i.e., by most recently watched and then within it by alphabet, etc.
I would recommend this to a friend!

When I signed on to Sling I was told it was necessary to have an additional piece of hardware in order to utilize the program on my TV. ROKU II was recommended, and this required a three month commitment. I find the system to be clunky, and slow to respond to commands. I have found that many of the stations available through ROKU require additional subscriptions. I now have a Sling subscription that extends to April and which I have no expectation of ever using. ROKU II (only) slightly used anyone?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
