I bought this since I travel away from home Monday to Friday. I rent a small condo and to keep cost down, I just got the basic cable. So I bought the Roku 2 so that I can watch NetFlix, Amazon Prime, HBO Now, and the NHL games.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Gives Me the Channels I Want

This is my second Roku player and I'm pretty happy with it. It's faster than the old one and has some shortcut buttons like one to Netflix. Apparently, those buttons are not programmable, though. I'd like to program the other one to HBONow so it's useless. I like the selection of channels; it has most of the ones I want. The only thing I really dislike is the behavior at the end of a Netflix show—it automatically starts playing the next episode. I never want that so I always have to scramble for the remote to press Stop. One other thing: I like the Ethernet connection which gives me the best possible download speed.

Received my Roku2 as a birthday gift, and am more than pleased. Easy set up,, useful features, and much faster than my previous streaming brand control.

Roku 2 for You?

I bought the Roku 2 mainly because it was inconvenient to search all of the different media providers for the content I was after. Roku does make it simply and quick to find programs over several different providers. I especially love the Roku app that turns your tablet or smart phone into a remote. It is much quicker to type your search inquiry using the app than it is to use a remote and on-screen keyboard. The secondary reason I purchased the Roku 2 was for the ability to, "Cast Screen" or "Mirror Screen." I was very disappointed. After some experimentation, I discovered it wasn't the Roku's fault. It was Android on my tablet. After the upgrade to 5.01 Lollipop I was not able to utilized the, "Cast Screen" feature anymore. It still works on my ancient Samsung Galaxy S III, but that is because it still uses and old version of Android. I noticed that even with the updated OS that youtube's app and Netflix's app still cast quite well. This leads me to wonder why Roku would limit the Roku app to just casting locally stored media like, photos, and videos to the Roku. It won't cast a live screen. Very puzzling and frustrating. I hope Roku will add the ability to their app as I suspect Google and Android will be slow to fix the problem in hopes that people will purchase Chromecasts and use their online store. If you are listening Roku, "Please add the ability to mirror the content of my tablet screen to the Roku through your app." It will give you an edge against the competitors.

I have no complaints. This product does everything you need it to do for a very reasonable price. I was going to buy a more expensive brand and am so happy that I didn't!

We've had it for about two weeks. I can get things like Netflix and Hulu. But when it comes to streaming live TV it doesn't work . Very disappointed. Every time I try and watch for example Disney I have to log into my Internet provider and I don't have cable TV therefore it doesn't work. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Easy set up, Lots of great channels

I got the Roku 2 with the purchase of an internet package through the internet provider in my area. I have only had the Roku for a month but it has been great. There are lots of channels to choose from and if you already have accounts with the services provided then it's a really easy set up process.

I bought this 2 weeks ago and I am pleased beyond anything I could imagine. The Roku2 streams clearly and I can even listen to music. I love this device and don't know why I haven't had one all along.
