Great, but needs improved UI and audio

I've been using a Roku since 2011. I bought the new Roku 2 hoping that it would solve some audio issues I'm having, in addition to being much faster than my orginal Roku 2 XS.
It fulfills the "faster" part, but the audio definitely has problems. Some channels, like YouTube, have very noticeable distortion on audio. I played a music video on the Roku 2 and it clipped like crazy, but it worked fine on my Fire TV stick, or my iPhone, or any other YouTube player. Definitely a Roku issue. I've also noticed the audio clipping in a few other Roku apps, but haven't noticed it in the big ones like Amazon Instant or Netflix. It clipped the same with my sound bar, older receiver over optical, or TV speakers, so it's not the fault of other components. Overall, very disappointing.
It's also pretty disappointing that Roku's UI hasn't really improved much in years, and feels very old compared to the competition. One thing I'd love in addition to a fresher design would be more of my channels on the screen at once, instead of having three columns next to a huge ad. Four columns and a smaller ad would be great.
Lastly, as home automation becomes more common, it'd be awesome to have an API on the Roku device for notifications and bindings to things like OpenHAB.

Good Quality. Too many glitches.

I just got a 60 inch HD TV and i decided to go for another ROKU. I thought that the new full HD will deliver much better quality and i was right but it comes with a price. I'm constantly facing glitches of any kind and have to reset the ROKU very often. Meanwhile the other work perfectly. The internet comes from cable, so the streaming it's not the issue. Hope they will improve it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Better than smart tv

When the internet connectivity failed on our 18 month smart tv, I was very annoyed. No affordable fix so I bought the Roku 2. Easy setup and vastly more streaming options than I knew existed. A problem became a benefit.
