Solved my problem

I signed up for the 7 day free trial for Sling Tv and tried to stream from my 1st gen. chromecast. It wasn't strong enough, so I prepaid 3 months of sling TV and they sent me a roku 2 for free. It fixed the problem and streams perfectly.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Roku 2 - Roku in general

My Roku 2 came with SlingTV subscription. Before that I used the small Roku chip style unit which worked really well. Roku 2 is slow, interferes with my TV's other channels ( when I switch to regular local TV channels, Roku wont start when I switch back to HDMI that has Roku connected to it. I need to turn the TV On/ OFF then it starts. I have 2 other Rokus on my other TVs and they work fine. Roku 2 is slow and its remote needs to be directed towards the unit until it works ( supposed to be multi-directional but not). Also in general you cannot find some other streaming programs on Roku and it limits you. I have a Sony Blue Ray DVD unit and capable of receiving streaming TVs and I can search for much more programs on that than Roku!! Over all its a good starter.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I am new to video streaming. I did a lot of research before purchasing Roku 2 based on reviews and articles and opinions from friends. I was amazed at how many "channels" were available. It's not just Hulu, Netflix, AmazonTV, etc. but there are other "networks" (or whatever you'd call them) that list many channels within. MANY are free. And if you want to just watch one show on a "pay cable" channel, you can purchase just that season. I'm still finding my way around all the options - but so far, I love it. I will be cutting the cable soon!!

I'm not much of a TV viewer and didn't want cable or satellite but local TV was not enough either. This fit perfectly! Offers so much more and way more affordable than a long-term commitment to a contract.

Better than bluray player

My first review was right after I got my Roku 2. Now that I've had a couple weeks to try it, here's an update. Most of the time it works great. Now it's started to get blurry. At first it was with Sling tv, but now it's also doing it with Netflix. Not happy with that, because I watch a lot of Netflix.
