Great cable alternative

I bought a Roku because I needed something to cover ALL bases in regards to available channels/Apps, and the Roku was the most reasonably priced option that I could plug an Ethernet cable into. So far I've loved it! I haven't missed cable for a second.

Good product, simple operation

I bought this unit for my parents who had never been on Netflix or YouTube, and had never streamed anything before. After only a couple evenings of use they where searching and watching their favorite shows and starting to explore new ones.

It's like having Cable on-demand

Once you dig through the deluge of channels that are available and settle on a handful of good ones you'll be set. Easy to install, easy to access audio and video files stored on a network drive (you can also attach a portable hard drive via USB, and the transmission is flawless with a high speed connection and a good router. My only nitpicking dislike is that the Roku device never turns off. It's constantly polling my router, even when it's in sleep mode. But this is not a big deal. I recently switched from Chromecast (which I liked), and I consider this a huge improvement. I love my Roku 2!

A bit confusing

I bought a new and improved Roku for my 75 year old mom. Even for me, a pretty tech savvy person, the interface is confusing. I recommend Roku to all friends who are still living under rocks and don't know how great it is but I caution those who have older models to not upgrade.

I have had a Roku for a couple of years, and last month added a Roku 2 to another TV. The device is fantastic! Works very smoothly. Very easy to figure out and configure. It basically does the work by itself.
