Easy to use and awesome settings

I was hesitant to purchase my Roku but so happy I did! It's easy to use and set up and great features. I have no issues with it or issues with it steaming all the shows I love.

Fast & Easy

We have Comcast Xfinity, Apple TV and now a Roku 2. Roku has the best interface of the three of them. It's also apparently much faster than the Apple TV and has fewer glitches while viewing programs. The integration with Amazon Prime is great. It looks like the vast majority of the 2,000 or so channels are junk channels with no easy navigation. Some of the "free" channels are just gateways to paid services. Some have blurry video and a complete lack of organization of their content. There are a few great channels, though, hidden in the bunch. One example of this is the National Film Board of Canada channel. Some well-known channels, such as CNBC, offer almost no useful content unless you subscribe to the channel already through your cable provider. Overall, our impression is that Roku is a step in the right direction and a few steps ahead of the competition in its interface.

Recent relocated and can not have a dish service on property so invested in the roku and it is great, shows are up an hour (usually) after they air so you never lose out.

Overall the player works great, although some apps are better than others. I'd be reluctant to forego my HBO subscription through DIRECTV to rely solely on the HBO GO app...that thing just buffers continually to the point where it's unwatchable, and even when it isn't reloading, the quality is quite poor. That being said, Netflix and Amazon work great and rarely have issues. It should be noted that I had the same issue with HBO GO on my Xbox a few years ago, so it's definitely something about their service and not the Roku player.
I'm a bit of a quality snob so I will always prefer Blu-ray or HDTV so I don't have to rely on internet bottlenecks and/or deal with automatic quality adjustments inherent in streaming services, but it is a great little device for watching material that might not be available in other formats.
It's great for travelling...hook it up in a hotel, connect to their WiFi, and bam. Binge-watch to your heart's content.

So Nice for Vision Impaired

I bought this Roku because I have a vision impairment and wanted to watch things on my bigger TV screen. It is so much better than trying to see on a tablet or computer screen.

We have tried them all and the roku is our favorite. It has a central (home) location to go to and find the different apps. My 4 yr old can even work this one.
