Roku 2 (2015 model) is a definite upgrade

I've had a Roku Streaming Stick for 18 months and have loved it. But I wanted to be able to play media from a flash drive other than by connecting my laptop to the TV. I learned that a Roku 2 has that capability and that it has a new, fast processor. I've been very happy on both counts. To play media from a flash drive only requires plugging into the Roku 2 and accessing it with one of the special channels (I use the Roku Media Player channel). Easy! And, the new Roku 2 is considerably faster than my 2014 Streaming Stick - it's not just a small difference. So, by upgrading I've gotten the functionality I want (which saves wear on my laptop), faster operation, and given up nothing - a rare personal victory. I've never regretted disconnecting cable.

Bought the updated Roku 2 to replace an older model. This one has higher resolution (1080P) & is much faster. I use it for Amazon Prime, HBO, Showtime & Plex. Everything is noticeably sharper & quicker to load. Excellent!

I can finally watch HBOGO on my tv!

The reason I bought the Roku 2 was because we have HBO as part of our cable package which allows me to use the hbogo app on my iPad. I enjoyed the app but really wanted to watch it on my tv. Now I can and I'm happy! It works really well but I haven't played with it much as far as other channels/apps are concerned. I will be doing more exploring.

Fast Interface

Bought before Christmas and for the first two weeks, the Roku2 and my Netgear 4300 did not always seem to see eye to eye but that finally resolved itself and it has been working like a charm for the past month. Unlike my old Sony BluRay, due to a new upgraded processor, there is very little wait time for anything. That alone is worth the price.

Got for free with 3 month pre-pay of sling. But programs on sling do not fit the screen, only get a partial picture.
