I bought this so I could watch the Super Bowl, since the broadcaster networks have quit broadcasting in my area. It worked for the Super Bowl, and it's ok to watch YouTube, but the offerings for ABC, History channel, etc. are just teaser ads to get you to sign up with the cable company. After one week of occasional use, the remote control won't work beyond 8 feet away from the TV, even after I put in fresh batteries.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Dropped cable awhile ago. Got a Roku 2 for Christmas and absolutely wish I had gotten one myself way earlier. Love it compared to cable and much more economical with better variety of programming etc. Keep thanking my friend for the great Christmas present!

This has been a great device to have. I can leave it in the front room to view Netflix or hulu, instead of moving our ps3 back and forth. I take it with me when I travel, so I have something to watch. Best device ever!

I've had the roku 2 for a couple months and love it. It's made the transfer from cable easy. Easy to use and set up.
