Trouble with the remote

I bought this to replace a Roku model that was about 6 years old. We were excited for the new features and channels, and they are great. However, the remote is terrible. When we first turn on the television, the remote will not activate the device. Instead, we have to use the app on our phones to get the device "awake." Once the device is "awake" the remote will usually start to work, but it's a hassle, especially for our kids who do not have smart phones, i.e. an alternate way to operate the device.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Wish I'd dropped satellite years ago!

Roku is awesome. There are tons of free channels, and with at 1/3 of the cost of my mid-level DISH package, I can watch almost everything I had on satellite. Save the money and buy Roku!

I bought this to add to my Roku 3 and love it the same although the features are different. Will staying with Roku! Quality and service are impeccable! Never going back to cable or satellite tv!

I decided two weeks ago i needed to get rid of expensive cable since very little tv is watched besides CNN and Walking dead on AMC. Got SLING TV and netflix/hulu. I am very happy with this. I dont like voice activated commands so the Roku 2 is fine for us. I wish it had an on/off switch as it can get warm and i think its good to shut off but u have to unplug. But overall i am pleased so far.

I always heard that Roku was the premier brand in digital streaming technology. It was not until I had bought my very own Roku 2, for my bedroom television, that I actually found out how awesome it really was for myself. I'm so impressed and satisfied that my next purchase will be a Roku 3 for my living room television so as I could entertain family and friends when they come over to visit. I'm certain they will be as impressed as I have been and continue to be.
