This was given to me as a birthday gift.
Although I have been able to listen to some of my favorite genres, as well as a couple of movies, I find the apparatus is not that user friendly.
I am certain, in time, I will figure out all there is to figure out.

Best streaming alternative!!

1 week into this, also bought a Chromecast. Prefer the Roku 2, though the chromecast has good points too. I like not to have to depend on my phone to cast content.

Giving cable the boot

I bought this over a month ago and just recently hooked it up. I have no regrets on getting rid of the cable. it was easy to hook up and operate.

Purchased to replace old DVD with media player built in. Only thing I regret is not buying this device 2 years ago. Love it!

Bought the Roku 2 for my daughter's room, overall it does what is expected. I don't like that it times out when doing marathon watching (watching all seasons of a show). Also I have to keep readding new codes for some of my channel apps at least twice a month because it stops recognizing my subscription; wish it would stay logged in and working all the time.
I plan on exploring more of the channels soon, but have stuck with the free/major ones (ones included based on the tv provider) and toddler friendly. My daughter loves it except for when she says "my tv is broken" which means it timed out. The picture and connectivity qualities are great. Doesn't hurt that I save money by not having to rent an extra box from my cable provider.
