Super easy to set up.

The BluRay we were using to stream Netflix/Amazon quit. It was the second one to die so I looked for options. Read the reviews of Roku 2 and bought one. I am very impressed with the quality of the components. Setting up the Roku was almost too easy (I was sure I had messed it up) but pushed the button and it worked! It has a much faster response than our old BluRay and a great selection of channels. I am very impressed.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Intuitive and great features

I own an Apple TV so I wasn't sure how the Roku 2 would compare. The reason I got the Roku 2 is the number of apps / channels it supports. I'm happy to say that it is better than the Apple TV in multiple ways - loads faster, way more channels / apps, the remote app on the iPhone is better. I definitely recommend this over other streaming devices.

DVD replaced the Roku

Connectivity was very difficult. Roku recognized my WIFI but after entering my password it still wouldn't connect for 4 days. I called Customer Service, was on hold for at least 5 minutes. Spoke to someone with a heavy accent and was told several times that after hanging up I would receive an email with a pdf to help me troubleshoot. I never received the email but later that day my WIFI password was accepted. When I bought the Roku I thought I needed a device to get all kinds of free channels and apps. Not sure of what shows would actually be on the "Free" channels, I thought most likely would be older 80s movies. The many free channels Roku offers are VERY low budget movies that I wouldn't put on if I wanted background noise. They aren't low budget B movies they are more like low budget "T" or "V" movies, just awful. I signed into Amazon Prime, selected a movie and the screen went blue and had an error stating I was not authorized, you could hear the movie you just couldn't watch the movie. So I returned the Roku and I bought a new DVD player with WIFI. I had no WIFI connection issues and I can view all my Amazon Prime movie without a blue screen. Good Luck Roku.

Lots of programs, bad technology

We are pleased with all the different content providers available on Roku. But whenever we want to start watching, we have to unplug Roku from the power, turn on the TV and plug Roku back into the power. Otherwise we get a hideous error message and no picture. This is what Roku customer service advised and it works, but it is very annoying.

A very cool box!

I bought the Roku to escape the traps of Comcast, Direct TV and Dish TV. I purchased an antenna and that took care of the major networks. Roku affords me my entertainment. It is fast, presents a good picture and open the door to Amazon, Sling and others. It is far superior to my Viera feed built into my television. I recommend it highly.

I bought this because Amazon stopped supporting the Smart TV portion of my surround sound system. It was very easy to install and works very well. I was especially happy that using the Roku Media app allowed me to watch videos and listen to music that was on my network via my desktop computer.

Great device for your 2nd Home!

I bought this for my summer home where I only come up a couple times a year but still wanted to watch TV. I already have internet at my place, so it was perfect for my situation! Easy to install, and if you have a cable/satellite account, a lot of channels you can log in and verify your existing account and watch Premium channels free! One thing I can say is make sure you have at least a medium brand band service, some channels buffer, but not bad at all. I LOVE IT!

I can't believe that I have gone all these years paying high prices for satellite and still not have the choice to pick my own channels. With Roku, I can watch all the programs I like, when I want, all the while saving money every month. Excellent!
