I am not very tech savvy but the Roku was so easy for me to set up and use. They walk you through each step and offer constant support. I got my Roku set up the first try and have been using it non-stop since then!!!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not at all happy with the performance. Very slow loading, does have all the advertised apps loaded, to include Amazon.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bought the Roku to replace my Apple TV which does not accommodate the Amazon Video app. Glad I purchased the Roku 2. It is very easy to install and very easy to use.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The Roku 2 is small and easy to set up. Really enjoy all the apps available on it that aren't on my smart tv. Glad I went with this.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Wanted a streaming device that would be easy to use for people not so familiar with streaming devices. It's working well in that way.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have two setups. One for an older TV and the Roku 2 for a newer one. Both are working quite satisfactory.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Bit of a let down

I've been a long time Roku user (I've had an original Roku HD, Roku 2 XS and a stick as well *briefly) and this model probably falls inbetween the 2XS and the HD with the XS being my favorite.
This model has ethernet (which is important to me) and HDMI (not so important but helpful) and it connects to my 720p tv.
My main gripe with this model is the remote that comes with it out of the box. I was severely let down by the line of sight remote that was included, which is a MAJOR step down from the controller with the 2XS. I understand that had to be a little beefier in terms of hardware and performance as it was the one launched with Angry Birds on the Roku devices (never used) but it's 2016 (this model is a 2015) and we're still relying on line of sight remotes? I know I can get a better remote, but with the market on them being slim, I'll end up paying nearly the same amount for a remote that I did for a device. Looks like I'll stick to my tablet/phone for controlling things through this Roku as well.
I was also a little confused towards the lack of compatibility of power bricks throughout the generations as I was hoping to use the power brick from the 2XS, but found it to not work. So now I've got a box of old Roku devices which I'm trying to sell/give away and power bricks to keep track of.
That being said, the UI is still a little disappointing, sluggish at times and peppy in others (my internet connection is rock solid and well beyond what it would need for normal usage, so this falls on device power and performance) and the remote is a big sore spot for me.
The recommendation will say YES on would I recommend this to a friend, but that comes with a big asterisk meaning MAYBE. Depends on how you're willing to bend to use this device.
