I can get to to all of the big name apps (Amazon, Hulu, Vudu, Netflix) from my blue-ray player, but was drawn to the ease and speed of the Roku 2. The Roku also links to many apps (Sling TV, CBS All Access) that I cannot get to on my blue-ray player. I especially liked the idea that instead of searching for a title on each individual app (on the blue-ray) to find my cheapest option, I can do one search on the Roku, and it gives me all of the pricing options available through all the different apps. I found however that this feature only works with Movies. When a search is done for a television series, the pricing information is not listed, and I still have to open the app to get the pricing. This is an annoyance to me because my television viewing is primarily network and cable series, and very little movie watching. Other than that, the Roku 2 is a first class product that I highly recommend.

Recently purchased Roku 2. Very pleased with the control and the quick apps to all my favorite channels. Definitely the way to go!

Disappointed !!

I got this roku a couple weeks ago & still haven't been able to watch a full movie or show or anything without it freezing its freezes after 1-2mins of playing then gets stuck for almost an hour it's extremely annoying & unfortunate! I have high speed internet & even the set up & update wasn't working right I had to reset the roku 3 times to finally get it hooked up. I got the roku for my daughters room because she doesn't have cable. Our wireless modem is located in the living room I wonder if it works poorly because it's not directly by the modem?? But it the roku says it has strong connection so why is it not working good?? My laptop tablets & phone using wifi work just fine in her room but not the roku! Can someone please help? This is a real disappointment & im debating if I should take this back!

A million times better than the original Roku

I received this Roku as a promotion from Sling to come back after cancelling due to the horrible experience I had with Roku one (which broke 3 weeks after I purchased it). Now granted... I have only had this one for three weeks, but it's already clear that this device is better than the original Roku. The Roku 2 does not randomly shut down. If I want to watch TV, I will watch tv without having to reset the device. By this point in ownership with Roku 1, I would have easily been forced to reset the device 3 or 4 times. It's not a small stick that goes on the back of the TV, which probably helps with reliability because it's not constantly attached to the TV. TV's can get warm if they are on a long time (and I leave mine on all day for the animals). If you had asked me if I recommended a Roku when I had Roku1 - I would have said NO WAY. But Roku 2 has changed my mind. Give it a try.

Easy set up!

I thought it would be a problem with the set up of Roku with the TV and it was no trouble. I haven't fully discovered all the features and access but the options look endless.

I Like the apps and the format but wish it had an input button and a power button to turn it and the TV on and off other than that love it and canceling cable
