Versatile chopper

Worked extremely well for chopping nuts & seeds to a coarse meal size. The pulse feature allows you to control how fine the finished product is. Did a good job on chopping walnuts down to a smaller size to include in a recipe. Seems to do great on smaller batches. If you put too much in, the bottom part gets finely chopped and the top part is almost untouched. Vegetables chopped great and very fast. Just a couple of quick pulses and they were perfectly chopped.
I tried Colby-Jack cheese and that did not work at all. The blades immediately stuck into the cheese and stopped moving. May work better with harder cheeses like Parmesan.
Also tried using to combine & mix dry ingredients. Did not work well for that. Too much of the powder was out of reach of the blades and did not get combined into the mix.
Overall, the unit works great for small batches. Chops quickly and allows you to control the chopped size by pulsing. Easy to clean, just put the pieces in the dishwasher. This chopper is not meant to replace a large food processor, but works great for meal preparation, ingredients for granola or small batches of nuts.
I did receive the chopper free of charge in return for providing an honest review.

Right out if the box this is appealing to the eye, with a nice color and unique shape. It chops quickly and effectively. Clean up is a snap.

Even as a "deluxe chopper," it's disappointing

This little gadget is more accurately described as a “deluxe chopper” than a food This little gadget is more accurately described as a “deluxe chopper” than a food processor. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really live up to that title, either. I was really hoping it would, so I kept putting it through different little tests to find something it was good at. No luck.
First, the design flaws you don’t even have to turn it on to see:
- The blades don’t reach far enough towards the sides of the cup to produce an even chop or handle stickier materials, like mozzarella cheese, that have a tendency to gum up against the sides of the cup. If there’s too little of the sticky material in the bowl, it gets stuck on the first pulse and does nothing after that unless you scrape the bowl over and over again.
- The top, which houses the motor, doesn’t always fit easily onto the drive shaft. It’s a fight to get it on, and it doesn’t snap in place. That’s a significant safety hazard considering how little this thing weighs.
- The whole thing is flimsy, including the plastic cup and motor housing. I don’t think it could survive being dropped more than once, if that.
- The cord is incredibly short “for safety reasons.” That’s a valid reason, but you essentially need a clear counter directly in front of an outlet to work with it. If the motor housing snapped in place or the cup was weighted— both features it should really have in the first place— the cord could be a few inches longer without compromising safety.
And the performance issues:
- It’s almost as loud as an electric saw. No exaggeration— I used this thing during the same period I was doing a minor kitchen remodel. It sounds like a saber saw cutting through particle board.
- The cup and motor housing jump and jostle because of their sheer lack of weight, which is as dangerous as it is pesky.
- The motor isn’t powerful enough to handle any semi-hard material, like a block of colby jack cheese, unless the material is pre-chopped into 1-inch pieces. The blade will stick about 1.25-inches in and stall the motor.
- The blade isn’t sharp enough to actually chop. Instead, it halfway shreds. Softer materials like tomatoes, even firm and fresh from the garden, are reduced to a sloppy goop after less than a second of pulses. Even the processor attachment to my hand blender doesn’t turn things into paste unless I seriously overdo it.
- It’s not water-tight. If there are liquidy ingredients and the cup is half-full or more, liquid will quickly come oozing out from around the motor housing. In addition to being messy, it makes me uneasy. The motor housing is so flimsy that I don’t really trust it to be waterproof or stay that way if it was made to be.
The only good thing I can say about it is that it’s fairly easy to clean and store, and it can handle hard produce, like garlic, pretty well as long as there’s enough of it in the bowl. Otherwise, you might want to give this one a pass.
I received this product as a sample to review.

I didn't realize I was missing such a handy gadget in my kitchen! The Oster Top Chop 4 cup food processor is the perfect size when cooking for 1 or 10. It is super easy to clean, you don't risk cutting off fingers, and it can be used for many different foods. I not only made salsas and chopped nuts but also chopped veggies and so much more.
This processor is effortless unlike some other chopping options. It was easy enough for my friends kids to use when they visited last week and helped in the kitchen. While I received this as a sample to test it is now a staple in my kitchen and several other gadgets I used to use for the same purpose have found themselves repurposed to the local thrift store.

I made salsa several times with this chopper and it did very well. The pros: it's a nice size, very easy to use and clean and it chops well. I only have one con: the motor was not secure enough for me. I was testing this product and overall I found it produces great results.

Chops Quickly and Easily!

While I received this product as a sample, I was surprised by how the Oster chopper chops everything very fast, easily, and has plenty of room for large quantities of food to chop. This chopper makes food prep time much faster. This item also looks good in the kitchen when not in use. The whole family can use this product with ease. With the top button feature, depending on how long the button is pressed, you can vary in how the size of the items chopped come out. Overall I recommend this product for every kitchen!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this to make homemade salsa which it is of course perfect for. Then I curiously made smoothies in it and it was easy and delicious.
