OK All in one, but large paperweight after a year

This all in one works fairly well, and doesn't seem to go through as much ink as some of my other ink jets from Epson, but there are 2 issues I had that kept popping up.
The first, to be fair may be software, system or otherwise not Epson's fault: when importing scans to Photoshop CS6 in Mac OS X 10.6.8 it has difficulty re-acquiring the scanner if I scan once and then don't scan immediately. This often required a full reboot of the OS, PS, and the printer (never a reboot of the network).
2nd issue was much larger. After installing new ink cartridges I encountered several times a carriage error (0XEA) that required phone support. There would be loud grinding noises prior to the error when the cartridge was charging. It is my understanding that this error comes when the carriage has problems initializing its location, ie, it's home base. The first time it happened (about a month after purchase) I was able to follow the procedures given by phone support (Draconian method of manually moving the carriage into place and restarting). It happened several times again without requiring phone support. Then, 1 month beyond warrenty, it occurred in the middle of a massive deadline, and was unrepairable.
Epson, to their credit, extended the warrenty at no charge, and overnighted me a new unit.
My issue with this is, now I have a 10 cubic foot paperweight made of plastic, glass, and toxic metals and my only recourse is recycling via Best Buy or another retailer, but that seems a HUGE waste.
Further, the replacement had the same error on the initial ink cartridge set up and charging, requiring a re-boot. It did then work, but my faith in the unit is lowered, and it seems further confirmation of my belief that the carriage is a weak point that is likely known by epson, and makes this printer a throwaway on a fairly regular basis.
Sure, it's inexpensive and works well when it's working, but the quality received is offset by the wasteful impact on natural resources.
I'll be saving some of the easily broken parts (paper trays, etc.) before recycling the main unit to try to salvage some environmental responsibility.

I love, love, love this printer and everything it is capable of. Crisp, intensely colored photos, clear copies, easy scanning, and it handles a variety of formats and media. What more could you ask for?

I purchased my Epson printer because of the multi-function capabilities and the dual paper trays. It had a ton of functionality for a great price point.
I used it hard and heavy. We have two businesses in our home and I was printing daily for at least one of the businesses.
I started having problems with the print nozzles and the paper feed was going a little wonky. I tried to fix things by doing the nozzle head spray adjustments for about two months. Things were not improving.
Finally I called customer support. They talked me through a few things that I had previously done and then a couple of things that I had not. It was recommended to let the machine sit overnight unplugged to "clear" the cobwebs. The next morning I fired the machine back up and the same poor printing was happening. I called back to customer service.
After reporting what I had done that morning they said I was out of warranty. (I called one month and one days after it expired.) Without me even asking, they escalated my tech support call to another department. The woman asked a few questions and said, ok, we will overnight a new printer to you.
It came by 10:30 the next morning and I have it set-up.
This was a bright spot in my week, because I sure didn't want to have to shop for another printer. I liked this one!
Thanks EPSON!! You have won a lifetime customer!

Epson WorkForce WF-7620 All-in-One Printer

This is my 2nd one, it works so well for so many different jobs in my real estate practice I owned 2. I love the fact that it can handle 11" x 17" easily and the 2 trays for legal, letter & any other adjustment size make changing paper for printing a non-entity.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This was a replacement of a unit that failed after 6 months of use. The printed pages were coming out smeared and after many head cleanings and testing with Epson support on the phone, Epson sent me a replacement printer. I'm hoping that we don't have the same problems we had with the first one. Would not recommend product based on first unit. That opinion may changes with the replacement. Good item: Epson support person was very patient waiting for all the cleanings and tests and made the offer to send the new printer without me having to insist on it. Thank you Epson support.

Great customer support

I purchased an epson 7620 in Feb 2015 i needed the wide format printing for drawings. The machine worked well but the black began to go bad. It would not clean or align to quality required. I contacted Epson and they replaced the printer with a new one with little aggrivation even though it was over one year old.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought the Epson Workforce printer because it had many great reviews online, always in the top ten or top 2 reviewed. Also, the printer had ledger-sized printing capabilities which is a plus. However, I found the printer to be far more problematic than touted. When I received the printer, almost from the start, I heard noises inside, and a grinding sound when it printed oversized documents. Then, one day, it stopped working altogether and I could only print letter sized documents. I called Epson and they agreed without issue to return the printer for a new one. I was relieved. The second printer arrived, it has worked ever since. However, I note these inherent flaws in the print quality: both prints and scans can come out slightly off-center -- feeder issue. There is a portion of the scan where the lines of script can be slightly distorted or wavy. The scans themselves, unless you use 600dpi are not sharp and not OCR. You have to buy the XL sized print cartridges, otherwise, you will be running to the store every other week to buy replacements (also expensive cost/sheet). Overall, I would say that the printer is mid-range and not an "A" printer, and certainly has not lived up to the great reviews online.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
