This Printer Rocks!

I give this printer 5 stars because of its features and most importantly, because all of the features that I have used so far WORK REALLY WELL! At this point in time, myself and my wife have used this printer for about 3 weeks. It is used in our home office in which we print out more than 20,000 sheets a year, probably substantially more than most home users.
The last two printers we had were All-in-Ones of another manufacturer which were both in the same price range as this Epson WF-7620. We decided to get a new printer after the rear feed on our old printer quit functioning thus taking away our ability to print legal size. We liked the idea of being able to print and scan documents larger than 8.5 x 14, so after reading a bunch of user reviews, we decided on the WF-7620.
Setup and installation was easy, and pretty quick. However, the instructions on setting up the print trays for larger than 8.5 x 11 paper, (even in the detailed electronic User Guide) could use more clarity and bigger pictures. The first few times I tried to print a legal sized document, from tray 2, I got a paper feed or jam error message. Once I extended the paper guides and tray, and locked them into the proper positions there were no more feed errors or problems.
Here is what I really like about this printer: -250 sheet capacity in each front tray. We have letter size in tray 1 & legal size in tray 2, and don't have to refill paper nearly as often.
-The capability to print out a poster at 11" x 17" or even slightly larger
-The ability to scan something longer than 11" and wider than 8.5" on the scan bed. Not all items I want to scan can be fed through an auto document feeder, and there were plenty of times in the past I needed a scan bed larger than 8.5 x 11.
-I reduce my print costs by using the more economical 252XL large capacity ink tanks which are available not only for Black, but also Cyan, Magenta, and Blue. I don't have to purchase ink as often as with the standard capacity cartridges.
-I can use the two sided printing to save on paper costs. I have used it and it works flawlessly and seems to have little impact on print speed. (There was a huge impact on print speed on my old printer)
-When I send a print job to the WF-7620 it starts printing out with almost no delay. This is much appreciated since my old printer frequently would "think" interminably before it started actually printing.
-The wireless printing from computer was easily set up and works great every time. I have not set it up to print from my smartphone but plan to try that soon.
-Wired network printing also easily set up and works great.
-The large touch screen is easy to read, logically organized, and has easy to use & logical menus to change settings or accomplish a task not controlled from a computer.

light text

It does everything I wanted, and even has linux drivers. text is smudge resistant unlike normal inkjet printers. I'm more than a little disappointed in the darkness however. Text is so light it's hard to read. Not nice and dark like I'd expect.

Somewhat Not Satisfied

When I purchased the WF-7620 I was very satisfied. But as I used it for a bit it started to tell me that the paper trays were empty and I needed to fill the trays. The trays were full and firmly in place. Second, after the first replacement of ink the quality of printing is poor. Colors are displayed in a fuzzy looking print almost as if smeared. Have tried fixing it with no luck at all.

Disappointed

I bought this one because it was supposed to have wireless capability and we needed that feature for use in a rented construction office trailer. The wireless function doesn't work. We followed the instructions to the letter to set it up with a router...watched Youtube videos...nothing works. Tried 2 different computers...nothing. We tried to wirelessly connect the different computers without the router, a feature that the printer is supposed to have....nothing. The wireless feature just doesn't work.

So far, so good

Wireless installation was a breeze, easier than my other printer. Only printed a few things so far. Don't see an option for brochure paper. Competition seems to have more paper type options. Can see print head stroke marks on large pics. Will review again after more experience with the printer.

Problems out of the box

First, instructions are the worse.
2nd, when I tied it onto the network, it picked up that there were files to be printed in the Q, but they were not compatible, so it just kept printing a few characters on each sheet of paper until it ran the ink out and the paper out.
Worse: No way of clearing the memory, even unplugged it for 20 minutes and it kept doing the same thing.
Instructions don't explain anything and the touch display doesn't show any way of clearing those files.
Then when I tried to update, it kept locking me out with
"Failed to send the firmware file to the printer."
Don't know what to do other than to return it to the store and start over. But will try and call for some technical support, if they have one.

Why I'm disappointed with Epson

I've been trying for almost two months to get a WF-7620 connected to my computer and the Internet with no luck. No drivers, no IP address, tons of passwords/key phrases/codes, plenty of adds and apps but no clear simple way to connect to my computer and print something a foot away in my own office. Printing should be the primary operation of a printer. Clouds, sharing all the rest should be optional. Get me on the air, then I can decide when and if I need clouds and the rest. At this time I want quick and simple plug-and-play. I buy options so I can expand, not to keep me from getting started.
