cannot print in black if color is empty

I have had this printer almost 2 years and until recently really liked it. Then my computer died and it took almost 6 months to get it fixed, in the meantime, all the ink dried up. So replaced all the cartridges and now it will only print in yellow and blue. Print head nozzles have been cleaned within an inch of their lives, software reinstalled,
print heads cleaned...nothing changes. Be forewarned: you cannot print in black if any color cartridge is empty and if the printer is not used regularly, it may never print again!

Prints and scans in B&W very well. Does not print the colors as shown on my computer screen. Very irritating.
