Bad Instructions

There is no way to get the brand new printer to go past the date set up screen! It does not sense ink when you put in new cartridges. The instructions were written by someone who had no idea what it takes to start using a new printer!

Bought this printer because always wanted the capability of wide format printing. Good price, and works exceptionally well printing all formats. Printers much faster than my Artisan 810, I do love Epson printers. Only drawback I found; was, that on large format color printing; replacement of color cartridges, much to often. Redesign for larger capacity color cartridges is recommended.

One major flaw, one minor flaw

Minor-Alignment of the print heads is chancy, and the bottom about 1 inch slips out of alignment resulting in text ghosting.
Major-When the ink cartridge comes up empty, the partially printed page is ejected during cartridge replacement, resulting in the loss of a full sheet of what might be expensive paper (even 13x19 plain paper isn't cheap). Other Epson printers I've used don't do this, so this feature was a surprise.
The printer itself is good and handles larger pages well. It seems to have an indicator for when the ink sponges are full, so maybe it won't just stop working with no clear indication of the problem - like some other Epson printers do.

The Good and The Bad

Love the convenience of wireless printing, but am disappointed in the print quality. The colors are not vibrant... rather lack-luster. Hoping it will improve with new ink. So far have only used the ink that came with the printer.

So Far So Good

Just bought it today, set up instructions were very straight forward. Set up letter sized paper (8.5 inch x 11 inch) in the 1st upper tray, and 11 x 17 inch paper in the lower 2nd tray. 1st tray fit very well and was easy, 2nd tray was a little confusing at first to configure. Finding out now, that when you want to put any size paper that's bigger than letter paper in the paper tray, the tray will end up sticking out a bit and doesn't fully go back in. Epson provides little half transparent plastic covers that cover the tops of the paper trays so when using larger paper and tray remains sticking out, paper is still protected.
Only other speed bump in set up was when it asks you to open the scanning area of the printer and remove any packaging, it means the area where ink is put in the printer, not the area with the glass where you actually put the paper to scan. After trying to find "packaging" to remove and not finding any it was driving us nuts. We began to think that the white plastic sheet that covers papers when they're being scanned was part of the packaging and began to remove it so now it's a little messed up. DO NOT DO THIS. When you lift up the scanner, the white sheet that is on the top is meant to be there don't try and take it off.
Just printed one test paper and printing functioned extremely well and quick. Was able to just set up the printer to my current wifi so no more having to switch to my printers wifi to print. So far, friggen loving it. The print quality came out great and have so many options of configuring ink density, dry times, paper sizes etc... And so much more to learn!
With any product it is always new, and don't rush or try and jam things. Take your time, if you're stuck on something, look further into the manual or look online for people with the same problem (: Great printer so far Epson!

Just Not Over The Top

This is a nice printer with more bells and whistles than one can possible need in a one man office. Yet, it was a dream to set and configure and wife almost set itself up.The print quality for letters is very good and photo images are quite nice. I have owned an Epson Artisan 730 and the quality of its images was over the top even at max image size. This one is good and maybe good plus, but ... it lags behind the 730. It seems it may be a little easier than the 730 on ink and the price for the inks on the 7620 is about a third less costly. But again ... it only has 4 carridges. It large and seems do everything but write and take its own pictures. I have nothing really terrible to say about it because it is a bargain for the money.
