Installation Heaven

I had to return another printer because the instructions to install were impossible and the CD Wizard was a joke.
We replaced it with the Epson WF-3620. The difference was outstanding. I had this one installed and running in no time at all. The colors are bright, the print sharp and the ease of use was just heaven.

Beware U-Verse
on September 15, 2014

Wen I purchased the printer,it installed so easily. About 3 weeks later, we were forced to change the internet from AT&T to their U-Verse. No only was U-Verse incompatible with our alarm system the printer no longer could receive the wireless signal. After MANY hours on my own & finally another 1 1/2 with the phone support, Epson e-mailed me new set-up drivers, etc. & finally I can print again. My only complaint with the printer is the touch screen. Even with my small fingers, its really too small--you need to use a pencil eraser to get anything to register because you have to press hard in a small space to connect.

Epson Work Force 3620

First of all I this is my 4th Epson printer/ scanner both stand alone's and all-in-one's. My First experience was a stand alone printer and a stand alone scanner. I really liked them both because they did a superb job. As time went on they seem to have problems with staying on the home network and I would have to continually delete and re-install them. I then bought an all-in-one and experienced similar problems and was able to live with it until the auto-feed gear mechanism broke, a feature I use constantly. I decided to use my wife's printer (a different brand) that was over 13 years old for the interim. But due to it's slowness and huge expense of printer ink and it's dropping out of the network as the others did, causing my frequent deleting and re-installing, etc., I decided that it was time to go for a new printer. I bought the Epson WF-3620 because it was on sale and I thought it would be easy to get it hooked up to the new WiFi I have with the cable company. After several attempts and calling support, it was determined that I had signal problems (interference) with the router as evident from the pinging test the technician walked me through.(by the way the Epson technician are very patient in helping an armature non-geek as myself). After all this time Epson's people at support found the root cause to my problem. I decided to simply hook it via direct cable and WOW!!! Is it ever fast! I do wish that it did have the feature to automatically print both sides with 8 1/2" X 14" paper, but it can be done manually. However, that feature can be selected automatic on 8 1/2" X 11" paper. For this reason, as someone else said before me, it would have been nice to have two paper trays. I like the printer very much and appreciate the support I got from Epson in researching the problems I had. It is a great printer/scanner for it's size.

FYI-setting it up...

I've had 6 Epson printers throughout my yers of printing-they've all been GREAT and I expect this one will be great, too! BUT, setting it up was stressful due to the fact that the panel on the printer is EXTREMELY sensitive to the touch and I could not get it to change no matter what I did or what button I pushed. The problem was the sensitivity of the panel. If you put any pressure on it, as you set the country, date, time, etc, it just sits there and does not recognize the touch. By accident, after hours of frustration, I accidently brushed the display with an extremely light touch and it finally took. I also found that I had to touch the display button on several different places in order to get it to take. Also, there are FEW instructions with the printer, which never said anything about the touch overly-sensitive panel.

WF 3620

After having recurrent problems with 2 separate printers from other guys in just over 2 years, I followed the advice of my son, who loves his 3620. I'm not at ease installing new hardware and software, but it was a breeze. Make sure you know your wireless name and the password when installing wirelessly. You might have to ask your kids. You'll need a USB printer cord temporarily when installing. Haven't done a lot of printing so far, but everything looks good for a very good price. I like the high capacity paper tray. My old one only held about 50 sheets.
