Before I bought the printer I read reviews on Epson web site and was surprised on a number of complaints about installation issues. In spite of that and because I had previous positive experience with another Epson printer (Artisan), I decided to give it a try.
Here is what I did:
Followed instructions (unpacked printer, turned it on to configure, installed cartridges, loaded paper, skipped connection to fax line (I am not using fax).
I downloaded epson15400.exe from epson.com/support/wf3620win (my OS is Windows XP), - it took about 30 min,
Installed software by running epson15400.exe, entered printer setup.
I chose wireless connection and used printer buttons alternative to USB cable. It took me another 60 min to successfully complete printer setup, print test page, update printer firmware, and print my document.
Could the installation be shorter and faster? Probably, yes. But after all I did not have any issues during installation and quality of prints was as good as I expected from Epson printer.

Good Value and Easy Set-Up!

Take this with a grain of salt since I have only owned this about a week! Although, I did read a lot of reviews before purchasing my printer and this one was rated highly. This printer took about 10 minutes to set up and the directions were simple to follow! You do have to search a little bit for the mac information while the PC information (and android) is quite visible. You also have to search for the information on where to download the drivers for this printer if you have a Mac. I purchased the WF-3620, so here is the driver url for Mac users: epson.com/support/wf3620mac (if you have the 3640, just switch out the numbers according to the directions)
On another note, the quality of what comes out of the printer is beautiful and it is quick! I haven't tested out any photos yet so I cannot comment on those.
I highly recommend reading other reviews but definitely considering this printer! I purchased it for at-home use and it isn't too big, and is quite the bang for your buck! (Shop around! You can get this amazing printer at some pretty amazing prices!)
Only complaint is that the instructions could use more words (it is about 98% pictures) and be a little bit more friendly towards mac users. Hope I helped!

Advanced degree necessary to print envelope
on December 7, 2015

This is probably a good printer. However, in order to print one envelope, from the rear paper tray, it is necessary to change the printing preferences in the Epson software, and to change the printing preferences in the application you are printing from. Then, once the envelope is printed, you have to change all the settings back to print regular 8.5 x 11 paper. This printer software was created by a very large committee, none of which ever used a printer. I took it back after I hand wrote the envelope I tried to print.

Just what the doctor ordered

I have been using (and still do) another Epson AiO for several years, an older WF-635, and have been pleased with it. I also had an Epson scanner in a previous life and was very pleased with it.
I have several computers in-house, and I have upgraded them all to Windows 10. The last computer I had to upgrade, from Vista, had a USB AiO from another company attached to it. That device works well, but the company changed their scanning software so that it no longer saved presets, and the earlier version of the software that Did save presets would not work on anything higher than Vista.
My work Requires scan presets, so I can save specific color profiles and scan area sizes. For example, one color preset is high contrast and Letter size, while another is normal contrast and full scanning bed size, while yet another is gray-scale with very lowered histogram shadow and mid-tone values and raised histogram highlight values in order to make text pop off a stark white page. (That last is especially useful for scanning receipts that have light ink.) If you have a multi-page scan, it wastes far too much time resetting every scan parameter for each page; I need to be able to pick a preset and have it apply to all pages in the scan automatically.
I had two choices: leave my computer running Vista in order to continue to use the other AiO with the outdated (but preset-friendly) scanning software, or upgrade the computer and buy a new scanner. I chose the latter.
I researched many AiO units from several companies, and in the end settled on the WF-3620. It turns out no other company has as flexible a scanning program, with the ability to save presets, as Epson. I am not after a super-graphics printer; I need scan presets most of all, and Epson appears to reign supreme.
I set up the printer out of the box. The instructions told me where to go to get updated drivers. I went there and downloaded the latest full package and installed it. The installation went flawlessly and took me step by step by step with clarity and completeness and install screens that were easy on the eye. I have rarely seen an installation program do as smooth a job. Printer drivers, new firmware, WiFi connection setup, email print setup (which is an amazing feature and works great!), fax setup, everything covered to get my new AiO fully set up, updated, and ready to use.
I tested the new scanning functions and was extremely pleased that now Epson allows me to save preset names (earlier versions did not allow that). I was able to set up similar presets to what I used in the non-Epson scanner and have been very pleased with the results so far.
Also, I really like having tactile buttons for things like faxes, and I like a printer that feels solid and has a solid input paper tray. (Both of these are reasons I chose against the Epson Expression series, even though they have higher scan resolutions and better graphics print quality.)
The only thing I don't like about this printer, or other Epson WiFi printers, is that it has a b/g/n WiFi connection but yet does not allow 5GHz connections. So larger print jobs may take longer than one would expect, since one is stuck with 2.4GHz networks.
Other than that, for what I do with it, I give it full marks!

I have been an Epson user for about 10 years now, my old Epson printer gave out so I purchased a new one the 3620 . To me it is the worst printer I have had. Every time I ask it do something it requires me to do something else.
I will be changing to another printer, I am very unhappy with my purchase.

Great Printer!

I bought this printer a couple months ago and have been printing a high quantity of pages since and still have plenty of ink left. I have never had a printer with such good ink economy. It prints extremely fast as well. Everything works and it was easy to setup, the wireless setup has been perfect allowing us to print from every device we own. The print quality is great and it is consistent. This has been by far the best printer I have bought. I have not used the fax feature.
