Very Nice Printer. Difficult to set up

Printer gets great reviews from product review people like PC Magazine, Consumer Reports, etc.. I can't wait to use it. The trouble is the difficulty in the set up. More specifically, connecting it wirelessly to our computer network. In order to complete the install of the software onto any of the computers, one must pass through "adding a printer". The printer can't find the computer because the software install is not complete, and the computer can't find the printer because the printer can't "see the computer" until the software install is successful. This is not our first printer, but it is our first epson. What an unfortunate glitch. Once this obstacle is crossed, I'm sure the printer quality will be excellent. And, yes, the signal quality is strong from the computers, the printer, and the WiFi. The connection status of the printer with the WiFi (according to the printer) is also good.

Wireless printing totally unreliable

Regarding the Epson WorkForce WF-3640 All-in-One Printer: Wireless printing via email hangs about HALF the time. It's not the signal strength; laptops in the same room have full-bar signal. The hung print job cannot be canceled at the printer nor can it be canceled, seemingly, through Epson Connect web interface. I try doing a soft reboot of the printer but that usually hangs too. The submitted pdf file will sometimes finally print after a hard reboot of my wireless router AND the unit. Another problem is that the printer's wireless receiver stops working for no apparent reason. In this situation I have to re-enter the wireless password and wait seemingly forever for the printer to connect. I spend 30 to 60 minutes a week trying to get this printer to print or wondering if it is going to print. Frustratingly, you cannot print a pdf from thumb drive. In summary, this is the most frustrating printer I have ever used.

My third Epson WorkForce in four years

I just bought my second WF-3640 and before that I bought a WF-3620. The 3620 lasted about 18 months before it began printing an evenly spaced 1/2" band across each page. After trying everything! I gave up and ordered the first WF-3640. I like the Epson printers as long as they work! When the first 3640 developed the same banding problem I looked at other printers, but then I realized I had so many ink cartridges for this model it only made sense to buy ANOTHER 3640 to use up the ink

That's the word, its just an "AMAZING" product overall, its fast, its an ink saver, it has so many options & features. Its a product that we could only dream of or having in a business office and now I have my Epson printer at home ....
Best of all I can be away on vacation and send the picture I just took with the kids straight home to my Epson printer for print, when I get home, the picture is there waiting for me, even if I loose my phone on the trip, I still have the memories when I get home.
Thanks Epson

Good printer at first experience

The WF-3640 is a relatively easy printer to set up. I got stuck a couple times , but it looks as a success. The only problem I really had is the small text in the Registration Dialog. The printer is pretty strait forward to use. I had problems in setting up paper handling, as the printer has a lot of good functions my last printer lacked. I am still having a bit of problem understanding the use when I make double-sided copies. There is an option to skip blank pages. I'm not sure how to use this setting, and causing printer configuration, and other related information being able to print on 2-sided pages, and the use of 2-siden pages, as apposed to setting for 1-sided. I hope the printer will be more dependably than my old Lexmark S405 AIO (All-N-One). so far so good. Ask me 6-monthe from now. See how I feel about the printer then.
