Review of installation and set up
on May 2, 2016

Though the printer works well now, the set up did not go as simply as described in the instructions. Wireless setup did not work as described. On my Windows 2010 computer with Norton Internet Security the software did not detect the new device to set it up the first tome. I had to set up the manually from the printer. Even after that it took several times to connect the computer to the printer. Each time I had to run the entire installation program from the disk. Finally after 4 tries it recognized the printer and I was able to connect.
With my second computer which has Windows 7 and the same Norton, I ran into the same problem with the recognition of the network enabled device until I placed a "trust" in the Norton firewall which allowed it to connect. After I turned that computer off I could not connect at all until I deleted the trust in the Norton Firewall. Now everything works fine.
You need to add an instruction to disable your antivirus and firewalls temporarily to set up the printer.
I am afraid to configure the remote access to the printer over the Internet becaus I am afraid that it might mess up the wireless connection on my network.

Great Printer

The WF-3640 can be used for Home or Business. It has the standard features of an All-In-One printer. It is a larger printer than most Epsons and takes up about a 13"X18" footprint and stands about 12" high. Some of the nice features are: 1. the larger LCD panel 2. ease of WIFI connectivity 3. larger ADF 4. two large paper trays (over 200 sheet capacity), one of which can be dedicated to photo paper 5. capacity for extra large ink cartridges capable of printing up to 1500 pages. 6. double-sided printing which is nice for printing booklets from Word and saves paper for everyday printing needs. 7. prints excellent photos and all papers 8. and the Epson inks are the BEST! No runs or fading and waterproof!
Epson seems to have developed technology that will recognize aftermarket inks and will cause great color distortion in printing, so beware. I thought I would use the aftermarket inks on my Epson Artisan 800. It worked fine until I updated the firmware and then it went all goofy. Thus I got this printer to replace the 800. Very happy with this printer, especially the larger ink capacity.

Needs bigger ink cartridges. Runs out color very quickly. Needs better instructions on overall operation of printer on screen, especially scanning and tray selection when printing.

WF 3640 AIO Printer

Got install errors on the first unit that Epson was not familiar with but they replaced it and the new one installed with no problems. Actually I think the problem was confusing or incomplete directions rather than with the unit. I have not had occasion to use the FAX yet, but everything else works fine.

The WF-3640 was very easy to set-up and very intuitive to begin using immediately. The quality, as usual with Epson, is great. It works well with Windows 10 and our newly set up home network. Actually, the WF-3640 was the easiest project in our "great upgrade".

I've only had my Epson for a few weeks but it's been great. Very easy to set up and very easy to use. It's compatible with Windows 10 and handles all of my home office needs. Scanner, fax, print and wifi all work well. I'm very happy with the purchase.

Takes multiple print commands and rebooting printer to connect and print.. Printer not found is the normal message. Looking for printer. This is getting old. Printer is one day old. When connected by wire it works fine. That is why I gave it 4 stars.
