EPSON 3640

I purchased this printer and I had to clean the print head 3 times before it would print. Before cleaning the print head the printer cartridges were all full. After cleaning the print heads they were half full. I have had the printer for 1 week now and it is out of black ink and the others are low and I use the printer for personal use and have not done very much printing. The printer works well and prints nicely it just drinks the ink.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I found that setting up was easy for me, I'm average technically. I think the beginner could set this one up.

Not friendly at all

Not a user friendly machine at all. Not plug and play, and why does it need to find which computer every time? there is only one out there! Screen is hard to read and tough to use. Text is not very visible.
Whenever I do something it doesn't like it will just lock up and beep no matter what buttons are pushed. Home button - no it wont go there. Back up - nope no good either. I have to turn the whole thing off and back on. Pain in the rump.
Printed 5 color pages and already the lines indicating print heads are out of whack have showed up.
with all these issues - Will take it back.
I am so totally bummed that the workhorse Epson 630 that I had for years stopped working. It worked so well I thought I would give you another shot. Bad mistake!
PS - I HATE the touch screen.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great printer - sometimes Mac-Mini connection prob

Love this printer! Easy to use, prints clear copies in black and white and in color, has 2 cassettes and one manual load section at the back, has a smaller footprint than other All-in-Ones I've had and I understand that the ink is less expensive, though have not checked that yet. Initial ink that came with it is lasting a long time! (Thank you Epson!)
Could not give 5 stars as there are 2 problems I've had to deal with:
1. When I setup printing on card-stock, the only section that will accept the paper is the manual feed with only one piece at a time. Sometimes I have to do many copies on card-stock so this was unexpected.
I got around it by setting the print for plain paper and using Cassette 1 or 2. It has accepted printing that way.
2. The other problem was Wi-Fi connection after printing once. I kept getting disconnected from Wi-Fi, even when it said connected on my computer. (Mac-Mini OS X.10.2) Tried lots of things, but still had problem. Then found - when I decided to call Epson - that each printer has a separate service phone # and entire troubleshooting section!!
I followed the instructions, which were easy to understand and were very complete step-by-step information about what to do, and "if that didn't work..." etc., what the next step would be. I appreciated that a lot!
I have now printed a document 3 times in a row and hope that will continue! And - I didn't need to go through the entire list of steps! Yay!
I look forward to trying other functions such as copy, fax, adding photos, etc. Excellent All-in-One!

I've had this printer for less than a year and I'm having to return it. Despite changing the ink, cleaning the heads, aligning, etc ... it still prints very faintly to the point of being illegible. It's noisy, it's not reliable, and don't even bother to print something in color because it will leave lines through your image. Very disappointed. I've always loved EPSON but this printer, plus another printer I own which is currently at a shop for repair (the 3880) have both been disappointing. I have to replace the WF-3640 and honestly, I don't know if I'm going to go with Epson this time around. In fact, I might just make the switch to laser and be done with it.
