So Easy

I'm not a very tech savey person but this was so easy to set up and install. couldn't believe that I could do it all by my self. works WiFi from my computer and my tablet. scans beautifully. Great gift from my daughter.

Great quality and fast printing, love the two tray setup and auto speed, also that it faxes double sided. This is a great small business printer.

The size initially gave me kittens when I took it out of the box. It is about 2/3 the size of my old WF-7510 yet is supposed to hold lots more paper. Perfect for my work space.
There were two things that disappointed me a bit; neither is fatal to my satisfaction.
(1) Any oversized paper has to be loaded from the rear. My old WF-7510 allowed loading from the front. Legal sized paper is front loadable that's good. (2) The fax connection requires a hard line - no wi-fi for that. Rats.

Installation instructions say I may need to power off if things do not go right. It did not say whether to power off the printer or the computer. Logic tells me it meant the printer; I was right.
My old WF-7510 had space for a double width black cartridge. The 3640 does have extended or high capacity cartridges that have larger loads for ALL colors as well as black. A plus!!

I have always liked Epson printers and this one has proven to be no different. The print speed is exceptionally fast. I currently use only one of the paper trays so I can't comment on that.
My only complaint that keeps it from being 5 stars is the way the scanning controls are implemented. The scan controls on the computer are very detailed and great if you are doing graphics but I am used to using another brand that has a simple interface when I just need to scan in multiple sheets of reports to email to the main office.
You can scan from the printer using the touch screen. It allows you select where to send it (computer , cloud , usb memory) and what format/quality (jpeg, pdf, email) you want to send it in. This is similar to the onscreen controls I was used to with the other all in one I used so I can deal with this but what happens if my touch screen goes?

There are presets you can assign but this was poorly implemented for scans. I can start off from the scan button or the preset button and still go through the same number of steps! It will not let me save the computer and format for a scan in the preset. That would have been great but is extremely frustrating. ( I researched this thoroughy before I replied to make sure I was not at fault, but I may have missed something.) You can, however, select to send the attachment as a single PDF attachment or multiple individual page attachments. Some may consider this nitpicking but it's small things like this that make a good unit excellent.

The printer was easy to set up and it worked as stated. The unit prints both front and back without any problems. The unit has not jammed up since I have started using it. The wireless WIFI connection works perfectly. It is a jewel.

So far so good- feels pretty sturdy, easy to set up with only a few minor hiccups, prints very quickly and both color and black and white look very good. Haven't printed photo yet, but looking forward to doing so shortly.
