New Printer

I can't write much of a review at this point because I've only just installed it. Will say that so far everything is perfect. This is an upgrade for me from an older Work Force series and only because it has the duplex scanning feature. Feeding sheets in and having to flip them over then rearranging the pages in the PDF file is a pain in the butt. This should eliminate all of that.

Fast double sided printing with smooth laser-look finish. Economical to operate and extremely easy network setup. Imediate run/smudge proof documents, I've had water rings on my workspace.

I was very happy with how easy it was to set up my Workforce WF-3640 Printer. It was packaged well and the instructions were easy to follow. It was easy connect it to my network and all my devices.
The screen on the printer is bright and easy to understand.
Thank you Epson for manufacturing a great printer!

Paper catcher
on October 16, 2015

Upon my first use of my new printer, I see that the paper catcher doesn't come out far enough to hold legal paper so when it prints, it's going to fall on the floor.

Bryan from the Phillipines was very helpful in getting my 2 laptops connected to this machine.
My 5 y/o HP 3-in-1 died and my IT friend advised Epson. A year of flawless service will determine if it is 5-star worthy.

Abismal Quick Setup Instructions
on October 19, 2015
Posted by: Ken
from DC Metro Area, VA
The setup instructions provided with the printer are both incomplete, dangerous and economically damaging to Epson.
First, the user is instructed to open the printer bay door to install cartridges immediately after power up. If you do that you cannot open the lid to the cartridge bay.
Second, once you follow the touch screen setup you are prompted to not open the scanner. To everyone reading that the scanner top is the document feeder that covers the scan bed when closed. The top that opens to the guts of the printer should be called something else, like printer bay door. Users think of this device primarily as printer, not scanner. So when you refer to the scanner door or top the intuitive thing is to think of the feeder tray that opens up to give access to the scanner bed. Also, it's disturbing to realize you've had it open while the printer initializes and wonder if as a result something may have gone wrong.
Third, the instructions instruct to only remove the yellow tape on the ink cartridges. Your yellow cartridge has two yellow tapes on it. A customer could easily try to take off the one intended to indicate the color of the in. Specially since being the one sitting on the rightmost slot it may likely be the first chosen to be installed, as I did. Someone less savvy could have ruined the cartridge.
Fourth, the instructions fail to instruct that after loading the paper you should manually push forward the longitudinal stop to secure the paper.
Fifth, the illustrations indicating how not to overload are ineffective. The difference in the images is so small it's easily missed.
Sixth, the ink cartridge table fails to include the 252-I cartridges. So we are left to wonder what their capacity is.
Seventh, notebook or smaller devices to not have optical drives. The software downloaded as recommended by your site has no identifying info that can be seen to tie to this printer model. The number on the file name should relate to the printer model. Epson15405 had me thinking the wrong one downloaded.
Finally, it is silly and a bit condescending to be told that thorough and detailed instructions are on the setup software. You provide the paper "Start Here" setup guide that encourages us to follow it and, as you can see, it is grossly incomplete, misleading and can prompt the user to break the device. How you ask? With most inkjet printers I've had so far the cartridge caddy can be slid manually across without causing issues. In fact I tried to but it did not give easily, so I didn't force it. But someone else could.
I haven't even started using the thing and I'm already regretting the purchase. Very disappointing!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
