Epson WorkForce WF-3640 All-in-One Printer

This printer was the chosen replacement for another Epson printer that served us well for many years. The principle use for the higher functions of this replacement printer is for privately designed and used graphic arts products, such as greeting cards. All of the other features of this printer will be regularly used except for FAX - outgoing and incoming. We do not presently need that specific functionality. To date, the functions that worked well for us that are perhaps a bit atypical are doubled sided scanning to attached USB storage device, double sided printing of legal materials, and in tests, the printing to the printer of emails and multiple page documents. The remote printing worked well using Epson connect. Setup of the printer was without incident. It is worth noting that we have a modest amount of experience in these setup matters. Elements of use that are not usually noted in reviews includes our download and installation of the numerous Epson software updates. Also of note is the use of this printer on a private wireless network of desktop and notebook computers. Test use of the printer from smartphones was setup and enabled. Use of none USB storage has not been used. Access to the printer from multiple devices has been without issues. We are still on the first set of ink supply, so no experience with ink replacement to date. Warranty registration was accomplished without incident. So far, high marks for this printer!

Outstanding Value

I've used the WF-3640 for several months and have experienced no problems with either the setup or use of the unit. I access the printer via USB and WI-FI. Both methods work equally well and fast. The print quality and speed are excellent as is the quality to the scanner. I don't use the FAX capabilities, but otherwise, I've used pretty much the entire line of features on the unit and have found each to be "as advertised". This is the second WF printer I have owned in the last 5 years, both of which were excellent.

It makes a lot of noise, and run out of ink fast and the ink is expensive. I haven't yet figured how to work the rest of the different areas, but all in all I like it and recommend it!

Of all the printers I have had in the past, this WF-3640 Epson is absolutely the best. This printer performs all it's functions for my printing and copy needs. It has a great wireless set up for all my computers. I am totally satisfied with this printer and the best purchase I have made for a printer.

Ink is big issue

The printer responds well to the interface commands and the print quality is good. Two issues with the printer are regarding loading ink cartridges - can be tricky because to remove the cartridge its cover catches under the edge and you need to manipulate it to open. And the printer does not always recognize the cartridge so it has to be removed and reinserted and that may be more than twice.
The ink use is significant and that is where the real cost is but most likely no different than any other make.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
