A couple of quirks

The print speed of the WF-3640 is, at first, quite startling. I'm used to a 20 year old laser which was printing at a third of the speed. That said, the laser was a bit sharper on the page. I do love the two sided printing feature. It works well and only messes up when many pages are in the out basket. What I didn't like: 1. If I want to print an envelope using the back slot, the printer ignores it. My word processor allows me to print the envelope and then the insert sheet. I'm pretty savvy mechanically but I still can't make this work. which leads me to: 2. The manual is probably one of the most convoluted and useless publications ever. It answers every question you don't have and never answers the one you have.

Not Completely Satisfied

I do like Epson products and my Artisan 835 just stopped working after a few years. So I bought the new Epson WF-3640. It's horrible printing on glossy photo paper: I've tried all settings, and nothing works. Also, the back feeder to a single card stock paper, or envelope is very complicated and I yet, have learned to use it after multiple tries.
So, I would probably not buy another one.

Prints nice but hard to set up

The print quality is very good but it was a bear to set up because the disk did not work and there are very few instructions that come with the system. I had to download the drivers because the disk did not work. In the past in 15 min my printers have been set up with this one it was like going back to the days of MSDOS. I have set up dozens of printers over the years from Dot Metrics to Laser and this by far was the peskiest. I would not recommend this to a beginner because they would kill me once they tried to set it up. I would end up going to their house and doing it myself.

3640 on my Mac.

i have been running Epson's for decades. some are good, some not-perhaps-quite-so-good. this 3640 is an amazing piece of work. it prints faster than before, and with exceptional quality. now, i am just a regular person who wants sharp text and great color. i am not a photographic artist who is never happy no matter what. it feeds legal size 10mil print paper off the top tray decently. not perfectly, but it's just fine for special needs. the repeatability of image registration on the page is very good. in the order of 0.010". it scans fine for what it is. the menu is not too cryptic. it worked the moment i plugged it in. it cleanly went out and found it's own drivers and whatever printers need to find so they can do what they do. a cup of coffee later, we were printing. this is what life with a mac is supposed to be like.

dying a slow death after 16 months

the print quality has deteriorated dramatically, and multiple nozzle cleanings and new cartridges do not help. my old Epson ran great for years - there's something with this model or the nozzle technology that isn't right. lots of other comments about the same issue on various blogs, etc.

This is a great printer. A top notch piece of equipment that is very easy to install, linked to my WiFi effortlessly, and prints very quickly. A great copier, fax, and scanner as well. A perfect tool for the home office. 5 stars all the way on this one!

I don't understand why a company like Epson, who has been around long enough to know better. Your documentation reads like the three stooges wrote it. Many things don't work like they say they do. The printer seems to be a good machine, but I could see for those who don't have much computer experience would give up with these so called instructions. I'm not sure I would buy another Epson product because of this very poor documentation.

Good Purchase

I would recommend this printer for those who own a home business. I print approximately 700-1000 pages per month, plus home photos. In both instances, the quality is good. I also like the copy and fax quality. The double paper tray is convenient and the option to top load or back load for copies, etc is nice. I wish it had push buttons rather than a touch screen, as touch screens are more easily damaged. I have yet to get it to scan using the computer scan, but the unit scan works well. I do not like the availability of the ink cartridges for it. I was able to purchase the ink for my previous Epson at the warehouse stores. Now, I can only find it at office supply stores, and I have yet to find it on sale. I wish the ink was more accessible.
