Adventures with Black Magic

In my small home office, I've found the perfect tool to play like a much bigger professional, a WF-3640. It's the assistant I could never afford. Without genderizing it, a personality like the WF-3640 really needs its own name. From what it's done for the office, Black Magic is only appropriate.
Printing presentation quality MS-Project and PowerPoint slides to emailing .pdf scans of government or legal documents, Black Magic makes it seem like I have a small army of clerks and interns working with me.
The three color ink cartridges with a double capacity black cartridge, means there is plenty of in-between time before my one human assistant (wife) has to make a Staples run. The two paper cassettes allows me to switch paper quality, siz we or appearance without stopping for machine set-ups and paper shuffling.
Did I mention cost (overly competitive) or value (irreplaceable)....well you'll see what I mean when you get one. btw: maintenance is practically invisible and after three years of usual experience, still waiting for any sort of breakdown.

A best buy!

I have bought different makes of printers over the last 35 years. All have had certain features -- such as two paper trays, flexible printing speeds, a third tray for special paper, and ability to print back-to-back sheets w/o jamming. These features were reliable and were very good, but this Epson WF 3640 takes the top marks because it offers so many features for a very reasonable price. This is easily a best choice for the money.

Cheap printer

I'm not terribly happy with my Epson WorkForce WF-3640. There's poor print quality - fuzzy, not very good color saturation. It stops printing after every second or third page to - think about the paper? Not sure what it's doing. It won't connect to my computer to download scans. I can't change the defaults on the scan menu - I have to enter them every time.
Good things? Um... it takes up less space on my desk than the printer it replaced (from the 1990's) and it's faster than my old printer.

wf-3640 all in one printer

Experience so far has been excellent except for one very annoying problem. A warning when you are running short of ink is good, but the warning should come when you are running out of ink. My printer has been flashing a low on black ink warning for almost a month and I have yet to run out of ink. It requires me to click I do not want to use color inks to stretch out need to reload black. Every time I print I have to click no.

I really am having a lot of issues with this unit, making me very unhappy, it doesn't print in black when I ask for it to do this. The printer only prints in Color

Completely satisfied with this printer. Definitely more bells and whistles than I needed, but the price was right and I like it. Haven't had it long enough to know durability, ink usage etc. But set up was easy and it has performed flawlessly so far.......
I would recommend this to a friend!
