Intuitive

I am a technologically inept person. What a relief to find that directions are easy as pie to follow, both the instillation of software, and the selections for use on the printer screen. Very versatile and well thought out design.

Generally good with exceptions

I was hoping for a lot more than what I got. Let's take the downsides first. It's noisy compared to previous printers I have owned. The scan feature is default set at Black and White. It should be color defaulted. The trays need to be completely removed to set up paper sizes for photos. These should be preset as slip in trays. The color is not as vibrant as I was expecting. The red especially is dull. it should be more vibrant. The photos on first run come out with banding. I had to bump up the print quality to the better setting to get rid of the banding. This caused me to have to use more ink. When lifting the lid to set up a scan job, the lid does not have a quarter stop point. I have to lift the lid to vertical before it stops and stands on its own. I set tray 1 for 4x6 photo paper and set the LED screen to that size, but when I went to print a 4x6 photo, I got an error message of mismatched paper size. What I do like about the machine is that it is set up for right handed people. the LED is on the far left and easier to see than others. I like to fact that the USB data cable plug is on the left side of the printer and not on the back side like many others.

My first Epson office printer.

The Epson WorkForce WF-3640 is:
• Competitively priced.
• The initial set-up was quick and easy.
• The top loading, paper feed for coping is fast. The selection buttons for either BW or Color are intuitive, and easy to use. Very good print quality.
• The scan bed located just below the top paper feed is easy to get to, has great resolution, and scan time is reasonable.
• The printer has two adequately sized paper holders, each will accommodate various sizes of paper, and each can be easily set as dedicated sized paper feeds. Also a rear paper feed!
• Nice sized, touch screen control panel! Numeric keypad for faxes.
• Will except small memory cards, and USB thumb-drive for printing jpegs and tiff image files! Will allow you to view the image files, enlarge them, and select them on the control panel’s color touch screen!
• This is the first office printer I’ve punched, I own two Epson photo printers, but the office printer will save me a bundle on ink! I just got the printer today, and I’m already very happy with it! Thanks again Epson, I haven’t ever had a complaint about any Epson printers I’ve owned.

Easy Like Sunday Morning

The set up of this all in one is really easy. If you can read then you can set it up easily. The prompts tell you exactly what to do. HOWEVER IF YOU DONT HAVE THE DISK THAT INSTALLS THE DRIVER FORGET IT. I couldn't find the installation disk when I switched computers and 3 hours later I finally gave up and forced myself to look for the disk. The windows driver "search" found every printer ever made by Epson except for the w3640. That's why I chose 4 instead of 5 stars. The quality of the print is fantastic and quick. There are seldom problems with paper jams and the color prints which we rarely use for the purposes of my business its not necessary but when we have used color prints they were really nice. The price point was extremely competitive with other leading brands for the same features.

pain to get set up

I am currently unable to actually rate the printer as it has been 2 days of work trying to get all the drivers to load correctly and marry up with the printer. It will not work correctly on wi-fi nor hard-wired with usb. I am becoming very frustrated just trying to get it set up and working...and I thought I was pretty technically savy. But this is proving to be a very difficult process...much more so than the usual set-up procedures of other printers and hardware I've owned. So far, disappointed and hoping the printer works better than the set-up process....if I ever get to actually use it!

printer doesn't work

Sorry but this WF3640 quit working. I don't use this all that often and the ink jets are apparently clogged.
I'm not sure it can be repaired and I would like to trade this in for a laser printer which I am told will go long periods without printing and then work just fine. I am trying to contact support at Epson but haven't connected yet.

So Far Very Happy, Printing More Productively

I find it easy to use as a printer. Have not used other features yet. Installation was easy, overall. I had was not able to do wifi auto setup on my first try, but got all the help needed to set up iphone and all computer devices at home to print through wifi network through Tech Support. I'm very statisfied with the printer: it allows me to be more productive as I no longer have to transfer files to print from the one computer tethered to the printer. Consolidaded old printer and fax machine into one - saving space at home office.
