Epson Registration
on June 11, 2016

I am very happy with this printer, it does a great job. However when I registered this printer the registration page would only accept the default date of purchase. Which makes my printer out of warranty. Suggestions appreciated!

Ink drainer 5000

Great printer... Except that it eats through ink faster than a hummer through gas. As a college student it's extremely inconvenient, it seems even with the XL cartridges I can get through 3, maybe 4 projects that require printing before yellow is out, or pink needs replacing, or all your ink is gone go buy more, and you can't print in just black even if you have black but need to refill another color. Just seems the last Epson I had that used the same carts powered through them a lot longer, and even had that nice composite black printing option when ink was low. It bothers me too that you can't refill them, though that night just be dying out in general. Might gift to a friend, it's getting too much of a hassle and too expensive to deal with. It is a good printer though, despite its neediness.

I have just purchased this WF3640 to replace an HPL7780 Pro that has given up and died. The new Epson WF3640 is smaller in size and has all the features and is printing great. Not only was it less costly but the ink cartridges are also cheaper.

Color Printing Quality is Terrible
on June 26, 2016

Great wireless printer for black and white printing, but for the cost of ink, the color print quality is terrible. You can't print quality photos on this printer, and this morning I printed a zip code map that was barely legible (pastel colors on the web site were extremely faded on paper). I've had the printer only since Feb 2016, and this is the 2nd batch of color ink I have added to it, so I know it's not because it's clogged up or needs cleaning. All my ink is full at the moment. So if you're looking for a good color printer, this is NOT the one to buy. Plus this printer is very bulky because it does have two paper trays, which IS a nice perk, but again, I'd rather have one tray and better color quality.

setup was easy

The setup was easy. The printer looks nice sitting on my printer stand. It is nice to have two paper trays and be able to size them for envelopes or other size papers.
The cord was not quite as long as I needed to reach my UPS battery backup and surge protector so I had to connect it to a different surge protector. 18 inch longer cord would have been better. The display is nice with large icons that I can see easily. The colors on the display are good and sharp. There is no glare on the screen and it is easy to read. The scanner bed appears to be only 8.5" by 11" but I guess that is large enough for most pages I want to scan. I have not tried feeding multiple pages yet to copy or scan. I actually have not tried scanning to my pc yet, but it appears to all be intuitive. I like the touch screen of the printer. it is not as sensitive as I would like (like my cell phone) but it works fine. I like that it can print from my phone or tablet. and I can do that from anywhere via Epson connect. I use windows 7 right now but probably have to upgrade to windows 10 in a month. I think the printer works on windows 10 and hope not to have any problems once I upgrade.

I just bought the Wf-3640, and the connection so far is being running smoothly, I like the looks of the printer, is not too noisy, it has a touch screen to enter the info which I love, so far so good.

Initial Setup

The basic setup was easy and straightforward. it did take about three attempts to get the wireless to complete but after that it went some as silk.
I am looking forward to the updated fax function and second operating Epson printer in my home office.
