[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this dishw, I would expect the racks asher a few years ago and spent a boat load on it. For a top of the line appliance I would expect the racks not to rust through and the tech not to fail. I will most likely look towards another brand next time.

Has been good to us so far minus rusty racks
on February 23, 2020

We purchased this dishwasher based on good housekeeping and consumer reports reviews in June of 2016. Started emitting a smell after a few months and I decided to tackle the concern on my own. Changed out the drain hose with a longer one as the installers connected a shorter hose that was pinching and collapsing around a tight corner behind the cabinetry. Water was laying in the bottom after cycle completion. After changing the drain hose and periodically running Affresh (safe cleaner) to keep it clean inside has really helped keep it working good in my opinion. We are currently replacing the racks under warranty due to rust building up on the racks. The rust started very early after about 6 month of usage. Rust is forming on the racks at the welds on the racks, at the ends of some tines and at bends on the rack. That alone is a sign the metal was rusty before coating applied or coating is too thin or plastic pieces were installed before the coating had a chance to fully cure during manufacturing. Air pockets could have formed during manufacturing causing this rust to develop by allowing water/steam to protrude through the coating in these ares where there is pin holes from air pockets that burst. Other than the rusty racks we are trying to replace under warranty, we have been generally happy with the dishwasher. The filter on the bottom of the dishwasher may appear clean however, DO remove it periodically (weekly at minimum) and clean it well. This will keep the odors down and also remove tiny food particles that may have got stuck blocking water flow. We do try to clean the food particles off the dishes before going into the dishwasher for best cleaning performance and to reduce smells from getting stuck in the filter. Overall has been a good dishwasher in our opinion, but if you do not like to wash the dishes off before running it through a cleaning cycle, I highly advise the filter be cleaned and checked before and after each use for optimum performance. Hope it lasts the 10 years, crossing our fingers. Good Housekeeping was pretty accurate on this model performance (if you take care of it correctly).

My dishwasher is only about 3 years old and the thing is peeling off the coat near the left handle. There must be a manufacture defect internally causing for this area to start peeling like other folks who have commented about this problem. LG, please help and fix my product with a new cover!! Thanks!
Pros: Style/Design, easy to use
