T found the owner's manual very sketchey and not very detailed. Doesn't seem to tell you how to change sizes of thepage,

After clearing up a few initial bugs with the assistance of "Geek Squad" the printer is working fine. Resolution is very good as is the print speed.

Epson Expression Home XP-430 Printer

I received a free Epson Printer XP-430 to review.

I found the setup rather confusing and not very intuitive.
I placed the printer on my desk and would liked to have had 2 more feet of cord.
Installing the ink cartridges was easy.
After step 4 in the instructions, I wasn`t sure whether to insert the CD and follow it or the instructions on the printer screen.
I found the Password set up screen time consuming and if you made a mistake, it was hard to figure out how to go back a character and then continue on.

The print quality and speed were good.
I set up a print job and after 45 seconds it hadn`t started so I cancelled it. After 3 minutes it still said cancelling then finally cancelled after another minute.

Overall, due to my analysis above, I would rate the printer as fair and have a hard time recommending it to someone.
This Epson XP 430 printer was free in exchange for my honest opinion.

This printer does an excellent job of printing documents. It is an all in one unit. I have only used the copy and print function thus far. The copies are excellent and can be printed in color or black an white. It requires four print cartridges to function. The unit notifies the user the status of the ink levels at each use. A very good printer. I recommend it for use in homes or small offices.

in 40 years of setting up pc s and printers, this should have taken 5 minutes, instead 30-58 minutes. It should get easier with experience, instead engineers, technical writers and it have done it again. KISS.

worst registration yet

I didn't mind registering my printer, once, I'm not sure if my wife registered her installation. But when I connected the Media PC to the printer, I saw no option that stated that the printer was already registered. I went through the registration process again. I had a few problems with this process and I think that would have not occurred if an "Already registered" button were available. The serial number was displayed on the form, so why not check for a previous registration and if it were previously registered, thank the user that registration and state that another is not necessary.
