Sounds like the belt tension pulley is going bad. One of the reasons I bought this dryer is because it is very basic and wouldn't have any problems.

I bought this a few months ago and have already had several problems with it. the door handle comes off, the lint goes everywhere and the knob already broke.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this product in September, 2013 and have been very satisfied with dryer. Cleaning the filter is in front of the machine making it easy to clean. Great product. I would recommend this product.

I have always had good luck with GE products but since I purchased the new washer and dryer I have never been so disappointed. Loud noise when starts and sounds like a freight train rolling down the tracks when running. I was told by the repairman, that is the way they are now.

Previously I bought a front load washer and dryer set to replace my old top load set. It was the biggest mistake of my life. Simply put the clothes just did not get clean. In addition, the washer had a constant moldy smell that got on the clothes. I got the GE washer and dryer pair so I could go back to clean clothes that smell wonderful. This washer and dryer are fantastic! Nothing fancy. They just do what they were intended for: cleaning and drying your clothes.
I would recommend this to a friend!
