Great features for the price

GE appears to be the only manufacturer that puts the lint trap in the front door rather than on the top of the unit where the lint gets all over the top of the dryer when cleaning the trap but not on this unit! To us that was important. Only had it a few days and it works great, quiet and has auto dry sensor so for the price it was an excellent choice!
I would recommend this to a friend!

I had the dry installed and used it on the same day and thus far it appears to be working ok, however, I noticed a few things that concern me. The dryer is either a buzzing or humming sounds which is kind of loud and the lint collector is kind of flimsy, for the cost of the dryer I was expecting a better product, the original dryer in the house performed better and it was well over 10 years old. I hope that GE will take the time to address the issues in the reviews

We first purchased a Maytag but returned after 2 weeks due to excessive noise. We picked this dryer due to the fact that we didn't want to spend alot of money (it was more than the Maytag) and don't care for all the computer type dryers with all the bells and whistles that now seem to be the norm. Anyway, a day after the installation the dryer started making a scraping sound, seems if you hold the side in or the door in the noise stops... So we'll have to wait and see what happens with this one. All I can say is that they don't make ANYTHING to last these days.

Solid dryer, low noise, good basic features

This unit replaces our 17 yr old dryer, which we loved. Seems like it will do a quality job. I like the lint catcher in front, good reminder to clean each time. Door can be installed to open to left or right, a good feature I didn't know when I purchased. I like the options for time dry versus clothes type drying and a reminder buzzer that comes on during wrinkle free drying. Read the manual! I discovered a bonus feature/accessory: a drying rack! The sales guy said it didn't come with one, but it can be purchased later (sales guy didn't know that). I purchased one at GE Parts and look forward to using it. One thing to watch out for - after install we noticed plastic protective films under each knob that need to be removed. This was an oversight by the installers, but just be aware. Noise levels for this dryer are a bit better than our old dryer.
