Popping noise makes this product difficult to live with

From the first day this refrigerator has made a popping noise that sounds like it comes from inside the cabinet. The pops are sporatic and sometimes come in a series and can be rather loud or soft. We can hear most of these pops from our bedroom at the other end of our house. If you are in the kitchen when a loud one occurs, it will startle you. A Samsung Repair Specialist, who was knowledgeable about Samsung refrigerators, came the other day, but other than adjusting the temperature in the freezer, he just explained why these pops were happening. However, he basically led us to believe it could not be fixed and we would have to live with the noise and get use to it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Have to buy bags of ice

I was thrilled with all the bells and whistles on this fridge when I first moved into my new home.
Now, I find myself missing my simple old fridge from my former home.
This one is too complicated and the ice maker keeps freezing up. It's useless at this point.
I just buy ice and keep it in the freezer now.
I wish I could afford to purchase a different fridge :(

Truly terrific refrigerator

I have had this item short time, but it seems to be of high quality design. What most particularly impressed me pre-purchase was the the cold water dispenser and ice cube maker took up almost no room. Unlike other designs which are blocky, space consuming and in general, not ergonomic.
Temperatures are quite even. Items in the back don't freeze, and those in the front are cold. Shelving is designed to fit real world requirements, not just give the appearance of storage space. The freezer in particular provides easy multilevel access to find the desired object very quickly.
The controls are more than adequate, easy to use, and seem appropriately sensitive.
I was concerned about the stainless steel appearing door, as they often catch fingerprints and smudges. Except for the worst accidents, smudges are invisible.
The add on vegetable and special drawers do their job very well.
Lighting is superior, making it easy to find items in the back of the refrigerator.
This is a well designed appliance that is far superior to anything I have seen near its price range, and even many of those significantly more expensive.
Pros: extremely ergonomic, atrractive, does its job quite well
Cons: none
I would recommend this to a friend!

Ice/water dispenser is horrible

Every time we get ice, or water some drops all over the floor. EVERY TIME. This is a very poorly design on the fridge. I like the design overall, the cooling, the depth and space it offers. The ice and water dispenser is really lacking. I would not have bought this fridge if I knew it was going to have this issue.

ZERO STARS -After 1 year ice maker compartment freezes over and now has stopped working altogether and refrigerator needs to be manually defrosted or ice builds up over coils and leaks water under crisper drawers onto floor. Worst product ever.

TERRIBLE ICE MAKER

this is probably the worst ice maker ever made. definetily not expected from samsung of all companies. doesn't even last 3 years. ive had older unknown brand fridge with icemakers that lasted well over 10 years with no issues. this one frosted up daily and was a pain to defrost. after a few defrosts, it completly stopped working. i tried all the tips and tricks from youtube, google, and samsung with no luck. not only was this fridge expensive, but now i need to spend even more to replace the icemaker!

Prepare to perform maintenance every month.

I liked the looks of this refrigerator, and had a Samsung TV which is exceptional. This is my first french door and I do like that aspect of the design. I also like the extra bin in the refrigerator besides just a meat & veggie. It actually holds a large pizza or sheet cake. The shelves are adjustable and removable which allows for customization. The Freezer leaves a lot to be improved. Within the first months, I kept having to remove chunks of ice at the door every month. My husband finally figured out the door was sagging and the top part of the gasket wasn't sealing. Thankfully he was able to fix it. Now our monthly maintenance is the ice maker which seems to be a recurring problem from the reviews I have read. Every month without fail, the ice maker quits (no matter if we switch it on a routine basis to crushed ice from regular - as one comment had suggested) What we have is a large chunk of ice between the ice maker and side of the wall at the back of the unit. Once you get out the chunk which is about size of half a meatloaf pan, you will be good for almost a month to the day. This really needs to be addressed Samsung. It takes what would have been a good rating & makes me give this product a 2 out 5 with no recommendation to buy for others.
Pros: removable/adjustable shelves, large bin
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, poor design, ice maker doesn't function properly

Expensive piece of junk

Refrigerator coils froze over and had to be professionally repaired. Ice maker always froze over and had to be defrosted monthly until it just died altogether.
My family and I will never purchase another Samsung appliance ever again.
