After three years of service, the control panel on this model went dead. Tried all the trouble shooting tips offered in the manual, but nothing seems to fix the problem. After reading the reviews by other owners, I concluded this is a nice looking pretty expensive junk. On top of it, the model has been discontinued and without informing current owners of the product about this continuing and recurring problem with the model and the solution to address it. What a shame!

Touchpad failure

I have had this microwave for 2 1/2 years and have had intermittent problems with the touch pad responding. It seems to be heat sensitive which seems odd that something designed to go over a cooktop would do that. For awhile I could get it to respond by unplugging it. Now the pad doesn't work at all. I called GE and they said I had to have a service person out which I have coming. The problem is if they have to replace the touchpad, I might as well buy a new microwave. However, I have read multiple reviews online that seems to be a common complaint so why would I buy another GE product. This has been very frustrating to say the least. We are located in the mountains and it is hard to schedule appointments since most only come once a week!

Door Handle Flaw; cheap replacement

I've been using this about 7 months. A month ago the thin metal on the door handle melted and warped. Today it was replaced as a warranty repair, but with a material that looks like plastic. The new handle doesn't match any of the other GE Cafe Handles. I am so disappointed!

I have tried some of the "special features" and have been disappointed in them. I am also extremely disappointed with the light in the unit over my range; it provides very little light even on the high setting and it gets VERY HOT! Also--I do not understand the DIAL control!
