GE Cafe Microwave with Convection Oven

So far, the microwave has performed ok, but the stainless steel finish looks cheap and the inside of the microwave is hard to clean. The clock doesn't continually display which I don't like since that is the clock I relied on in my kitchen. I also am not particularly fond of the knob control, only sets in 15 second increments. Had an older model of this cafe microwave that looked much nicer and I liked it much better until it stopped working after only 6 years. Overall, disappointed in GE quality, have always purchased GE, but may need to rethink that for future purchases.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Handle Problem

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Apparently GE had complaints about the handle on microwaves getting hot because of heat from the range. They replaced the handle in this model with a non-metal tube with a foil covering. Soon the foil covering started to peel from the heat from the range. I noticed that other users had the same problem. We were concerned that the foil material would drop into the food on the range. I contacted GE. They sent me a metal handle that matched the rest of the Café line. GE serviceman installed the handle. I was impressed that they solved the problem rather than sending out another of the bad handles. I would recommend this microwave.

Looks beautiful

We are happy with the microwave, it looks great, works wonderful.  Two small things,1) the lowest amount of cook time I can find is 15 seconds and I haven't been able to figure out how to cook for only 10 seconds to warm up a small bowl of dog food, 15 seconds gets the food too hot. 2) it takes 4 steps to cook the food, hit time, turn dial to set amount of time, press in dial to set the amount, then hit start.

Overpriced. Faulty Design

This was an absolute mistake. On my second one of these, as I thought the first problem (less than two years installed) was a fluke. After about 5 months of using it, the touchpad that controls ALL functions (except the light and turning on the vent) stopped functioning proprerly. (do an internet search, it apparently happens to A LOT of people). I replaced it with the same model, and guess what? Less than two months, and the touchpad stops working. Repair folks say it is a function of the machine not being able to withstand the stove top heat from the oven below, said he has to do a lot of these repairs... Thankfully, we had the store's extended service warranty, otherwise we were out of luck with GE.  DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Design issues

Overall fairly good microwave with some design flaw issues. Oil from exhaust fan accumulates through the upper registers and your seats down on the inside of the front panel behind the front door. Upper facia panel plastic tabs breaks easily whenever removing to clean excess oil from vent.

Easy to use

Does its job well. But the material on the handle is cracking and peeling off so the microwave doesn't look nice in the kitchen. Also the filters in the vents are tough to clean thoroughly. We ended up buying new ones online bc I couldn't find any GE replacements.

Purchase Cafe microwave to replace one that was 5 years old. We have a Cafe range so we wanted it to match. The old Cafe microwave had a stainless steel handle. This one does not and melts way from the heat off the stove. GE replaced the handle once and now the same thing is happening again. GE, please fix this problem or stop selling this microwave.
