Cheap handle

I purchased this microwave which works well. The handle seems to be peeling and has a nick on it. Why should the handle not be stainless like the other cafe product handles? I have a cafe range and cafe refrigerator and purchased a new GE dishwasher yesterday. What can GE do to compensate and replace this poor quality handle?

Good Microwave

The microwave works fine. I am very disappointed that the time display doesn't not stay on. I looked in the owners manual and it indicates that to meet a 2016 energy standard the time display goes off after something like 5 seconds. What good is a time display if it is never on. The unit was supplied by the builder. But if I had a choice I would select another model that has a constant time display.

It doesn't display constant time. Don't like the fact that there is no key pad for entering cook time. A dial is used instead and this makes it difficult for an individual with tremors. Kitchen timer is not loud enough to be heard, especially when there are other noises in the background.

I bought the GE Cafe over the cooktop microwave in January 2017 to replace a 2010 GE Cafe over the cooktop microwave. Previously, I had purchased the entire line of GE Cafe appliances--dishwasher, gas stove, cafe refrigerator, microwave--and I wanted to match the 2010 appliances. Unfortunately, the new microwave has an all plastic front exterior that only looks like stainless steel. To the touch, the surfaces even feel like plastic. No longer does the GE Cafe microwave look like the professional that I was hoping to duplicate.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great to be able to have multiple tiers for convection cooking. Baked potato cooking not as described - always requires more time.

GE Cafe Microwave Problem Child

I had nothing but problems with this unit wish I had never bought it. To open the door you have to pull hard sometimes I think I'll be pulling the unit off the wall. The unit even has a mind of it own fan turn on by itself.

The microwave has a built-in thermostat that causes the exhaust fan to turn on automatically if the temperature around the control panel rises to approximately 150° degrees F. This feature helps protect the electronic components and also helps the cooking area get rid of excess heat.
