Exactly what I needed

While this unit is never going to meet the surround sound quality of a true 5:1 or 7:1 system, if you want a great sounding, incredibly simple upgrade to your TV's speakers then this is the way to go! I have a full Pioneer and JBL 7:1 setup that sounds incredible, but I also have a wife who thinks we should still be using rotary dial phones. Trying to teach her how to use the different remotes for the dvr, blueray, and AV receiver was a complete lesson in futility and often resulted in her somehow screwing up all my settings when I wasn't around. The HTXT1 was the perfect solution. Within 30 minutes of opening the box, I had it running seamlessly with my TV, DVR and BD. I was easily able to program my UVerse remote to power it on/off with the tv, and also control the volume. In fact, I had purchased it on a weekend my wife was out of town and she didn't even notice it for 2 days, until I cranked up the volume for an episode of The Voice and she couldn't believe the sound ! This thing puts out an impressively clean, rich sound that also has a surprising amount of solid bass for such a slim unit. SInce then I have tested it out on movies such as Saving Private Ryan and was very pleased with its performance. Again, it cannot compete with the extreme sensory output of my surround system, but I will probably only crank that thing up for special occasions. And I also love the fact that I can bluetooth my phone or computer to it and play my music. The Sony is my new go to and I am convinced that it is worth every penny!

I bought it because the sound on my television has decided to retire and I figured it was cheaper than buying a new one. It has great sound and I love playing with the different settings.That was probably why the remote deserted.Fine machine.

I bought this external sound system to go with my new Sony Bravia X900E but I find that you really have to "crank" it up to get a reasonable sound level. Still an improvement from the TV speaker.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love it except!!!

It needs to be set on HDMI1 to work with my TV. After it's been on for a couple of minutes it reverts to TV mode and I lose the sound and I have to reset it. How can I keep it on HDMI1 mode? Very frustrating to have to keep changing it back to HDMI1. This keeps it from being a 5 star rating.
