Terrific soundbar
on September 16, 2014

This soundbar is the perfect solution for limited space, as it fits neatly under the TV and has no external subwoofer. But the sound is terrific for the price, even at high volume. It also is excellent at boosting dialogue if you need that.

Great Improvement in Sound for TV
on October 28, 2014

This was a great improvement over the sound from our new TV -- much richer while still very clear for dialog, etc. It works as expected with the HDMI/ARC connection so that it turns off and on with the TV and its volume can be controlled by the TV's remote.
Music also sounds good, although we've just used the TV as the source (such as Pandora and Spotify on the SmartTV). We haven't used the Bluetooth functionality yet to play music directly on the HT-XT1.
It also works well as a stand for the TV and does not interfere with it like many soundbars would (that is, it does not block the TV's infrared sensor).
This unit is not dolby 5.1 it is more of a speaker enhancer. For the price it is a great deal. Love watching sports and movies with it. I love that the subwoofer is built right in
Had been thinking about getting speakers or a sound bar, but then received this Sony product as a Christmas gift. Couldn't be happier with it. Was relatively easy to set up, but the accompaying manual is a little complicated to follow - have kept it at my side for the first few weeks to make appropriate adjustments. No question that the sound quality for regular TV and DVDs has improved - much easier to understand dialogue. I'm a big fan of old musicals and the sound for movies such as "Oklahoma!" and "Singin' in the Rain" is awesome.
