I found this particular sound bar to be very sturdy. We own two and have placed both our televisions on top of them with no problem. They are large enough to accommodate the TV bases. The sound is very good and I like the fact that the subwoofer is built in, so no extra space is needed for an external one!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Sound System

I have been fond of Sony products and have purchased several over 30 years. Sony HT-XT1 Sound Bar is one of my best purchases. I could optimize quality of sound with varieties of settings and sound effects. Well built compact system, remote control design and features, ease of connecting to TV and convenient pairing of Bluetooth device are all plus points of the system.

This Sound Base has impressive thought behind it, Settings for older folks to better hear and understand dialogue, for greater bass, and multiple HDMI ports to compliment additional players. Only wish it had a coaxial digital connector - Sony is not the only TV or player it will connect to-had to buy an Optical to Coaxial converter and that shouldn't be.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Disappointed 3d image does not work

The sound HT-TX1 produces is just OK and I know that going in, I got it to connect several components into a projector with only two hdmi inputs. But I'm disappointed to find out it does not push through 3d image (as claimed). I even bought a $20 Sonly HDMI cable in the hope that that will solve the problem, but it did not.
My 3D-BD player is also a Sony product that has no issue when connected directly to a TV or projector.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Greatly enhances TV sound

Unlike most sound bars I've seen, this unit is thin and deep, allowing you to place it under a stand-mounted or wall-mounted TV. It nicely enhances the sound when watching movies or music videos and is a practical alternative to wiring external surround sound speakers.

No rich surround sound! Consumer help please..

I'm having trouble getting a deep base, rich sound with this unit. It's connected to a Sony Bravia HDTV. The sound is high pitch and echos. I set Treble to -6 and Base to +6 in ClearAudio mode. Can anyone suggest other settings to allow for a better "surround sound?" Also, the subwoofer doesn't work as well since it faces down to the ET center rather than outwards from speaker unit.
Have high ceilings in a 28 x 15 ft. living room. Thanks Sony friends! Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello Poppy52! Thank you for your message, we would like to recomend first if you are using an HDMI with Bravia Sync option make sure that both devices are correctly set you can check the link below for further information. If you are using an audio cords instead (Optical, Coaxial or analog ), make sure that the internal speakers of your television are set to off and this settings for MENU - LEVEL - DRC is set to OFF instead. After this is done repair your subwoorfer with the main unit.

good enough

We had to go with the sound box instead of the sound bar due to space restrictions. The sound is great for movies and episodic television. It has difficulty with news programs and music reality shows. The volume differs drastically when switching formatting. For example from National news to local news. We are constantly having to adjust the volume up or down. We have talked to Sony and to our cable people and no one can figure it out.

2 units .. Same issue, good for the right price - problem w/ electronics.
Can get stability issue when 1st turned on.
Pict oscillates and can lose sound.
Hard reset fixes after initial turn on.
Sound is good .. Like footprint.
