I love the ease of use and features. I hate that the band isn't replaceable and you have to wear it super tight for the heartbeat monitor to work.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: wear it super tight for the heartbeat to work.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good - When it Works

I purchased one for myself and one as a gift for my wife. Mine is pretty good. Occasionally, it will reset itself, losing all of the data that has not yet been synced with the phone... Which also means you have to set up all of your settings and apps again.
My wife's, however, is a complete lemon. It constantly resets itself, and now refuses to sync data with S Health - which is the whole point.
Heart rate monitor only works about half of the time - even when it's cleared of sweat and you keep completely still. It is accurate when it works, though.
So far - I like it, but it definitely needs to be improved to demand a price tag like it has.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations, faulty software
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Fit is nice but not for everyone!

I think the Gear Fit was a great smart band that showed a lot of potential but it lack the thin sleekness I was looking for plus the side height is to tall for me. I think the Gear S is the answer to what I mean. We have to thank Samsung for the array of options in the Smart Watch category that they give us.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations
I would recommend this to a friend!

Mostly what I was hoping for

I bought this with the hopes of keeping track of certain things during exercising. Especially, heart rate and how many steps I've gone that day. Liked the idea that it would send call and txt notifications so that I wouldn't have to have my phone out as I went for walks and such. I don't always hear my phone in my purse. The Gear Fit vibrates when a txt or call comes through. You can also set up other notifications, such as twitter, facebook, and so on.
I used the walking mode when on my treadmill. The calories burned according to gear fit matched with the estimations on my treadmill. I found that wearing the Gear Fit with the screen under my wrist (facing my palm) rather than on the top of my wrist (facing back of hand) gave better and constant heart rate readings. It also saved the screen from being bumped during exercising.
For the most part, it does what I was hoping for. I have Samsung Galaxy S4. So, at this moment, the program, Fitness with Gear, doesn't seem to sync up with S Health the way I'd hoped. I dislike having half of my steps counted on the Gear Fit, while the other half is on the phone when I'm not wearing the watch. I know I've made my goal for the day, but the programs should record it completely. There should be a way to add them together. I know there is for a Galaxy S5. Hopefully, they'll make an update for this soon. I also wish there was a setting for aerobics.
For the most part, I'm happy with my purchase so far and see me using this at least 5 days a week.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight, checks heart rate, pedometer, notifications
Cons: data sharing 'tween apps unavailable for galaxy s4

I absolutely love it. The only thing I would add to it if possible is fitness classes to the exercise. My step count & calories burned are inaccurate when I take classes.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Lightweight

Fitness with Gear no longer logs data for me anymore.

When I first got my Gear Fitness, I was very happy that it's able to track my exercise activity, amount of steps, and sleep pattern and I can see my own historical pattern to see my progress. However, after Oct 10th (to many others... 12th) 2014, this feature stopped working for me. The only thing I can see from the Fitness with Gear is the current snap shot of the pedometer or the last recorded data. It no longer save the data for you to review later... Wouldn't be easier if these data can be logged locally on the smartphone itself?
What is the point of tie Gear Fitness with fitness with gear when no one is addressing this issue? The purpose of buying the product is that you can view your activity from your Samsung Smart Phone. If the functionality isn't there... you're better off buying a cheaper sport watch.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations, no longer logs data to fitness with gear.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Samsung's Next Big Thing is kind of a FAIL.

This product was an exciting prospect for me. I love the design. But that is where my admiration fizzles out. I use the Fit with my Note 3. It struggles to stay connected.
While it is nice to have notifications on my wrist, the fitness features are not accurate (when it works) and are rarely useful if not accurate. It is frustrating to see that Samsung cannot get more than 3 days of battery life from this device. My 15yo nephew asked, "Who needs a watch that has to be charge every two days?". My answer: "Noone."
The chrome is flaking off after less than 2 weeks. The band "clasps" or pins are far from securely connected. Why aren't the caps on the pins a bit bigger to allow for a more secure connection on the wrist?
Samsung created a nice looking device here. But they continually deliver products that are not well thought out or tested. You can bet the Apple Watch has been well thought out.
Hopefully, Gear Fit 2 or Gear Fit S will be a better device.
Pros: Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations, cheap construction, dodgey connection
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Gear Fit

At first i really was not happy with the Gear Fit and wanted to return it after 2 days. But instead since bestbuy had a 15 day return i decided to give it another shot.
I do wear my gear fit upside down seems to work way better in this position
For my weight training i start of with the treadmill so i set the device on running, which it tracked my heart-rate continuously throughout and distance and was fairly accurate. I left it on running mode during my weight training so it can track my heart-rate and calorie burn and same thing it did very well.
throughout the day at work i do a lot of walking around so i set the device to walking mode, as well it track my heart-rate continuously and distance. when i know i am going to be sitting for awhile i set it back to just the step counter.
For accuracy i know it is not 100% but it does give a good general idea i workout and train almost everyday and i use to wear a heart rate monitor so i know when my heart rate is in the 120 range or above 160 so it does come fairly close
So now i feel differently about the gear fit i really does a good job and i love that it is water-proof.
I dont like that i have to be changing modes but then again it keeps me active.
Samsung Really needs to add weight lifting as an exercise option and cross-fit style i dont mind putting it on running mode (which tracks well) but it would be nice to see it on my logs on S-Health. Also it needs to fix the calorie burn i feel its under.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, waterproof, fair price
Cons: needs weight training added to exercise options
I would recommend this to a friend!
