Good smartwatch but not fitness tracker

this is really a smartwatch and I love this feature. But the fitness tracker part is truly a miss. Pedometer count is way high than the real count, as well as the kilometer count in running. I wish Samsung will have software updates soon to correct this.
Pros: nice hardware, nice smartwatch

a neat concept but needs work

After purchasing the Gear for my husband, I thought the Fit would be better suited for my lady wrist. The style is sleek and thinner.
I am only reviewing this to try and give Samsung some feedback.
I have been wearing it now for several months. The positives- caller ID. I have the Samsung Note phone and so it often gets put in the diaper bag and is not easily accessible. This is a handy feature so I know when someone is calling and dig for the phone sooner.
I like the text notifications. The quick reply back is limited. Not enough selection an you can only input a few of your own. But at least I can view them.
The weather is handy...and the correct time since it's blue toothed to the phone.
NEGATIVES...The fit part of this watch. It doesn't accurately count steps. I often walk with a stroller and if my arms aren't moving/swinging...it doesn't detect .
The exercise part of this watch is pathetic. It only gives the options of walking, running, hiking or biking. I'm assuming because these are all GPS traceable and will track distance if you are doing all of the above outside. However if you are...say...doing a Spin class on a stationary bike, it doesn't track a thing. I think this part needs a lot of work. There is much more to exercise than these sports and outdoor fitness. I even tried to track a walk when I was at a resort on holidays and we were doing a lot of walking. However if you are stopped for any length of time, it stops.
The heart rate monitor also needs work. If I'm doing a fitness class and want to monitor my heart rate...I have to stop and stand still, remove the sweat off the inside of the watch so it will detect...and even then it says it can't be detected. So unless you want a resting heart rate, you're out of luck with this pathetic heart rate monitor.
The sleep mode is kind of neat. You can track hours of sleep. However I'm not consistent in using it because I have to charge the watch at least every other night.
I am a good candidate for this watch as I have the Samsung phone and I'm also very active. However I had to buy a watch that had a better heart rate monitor that straps around the chest and will accurately measure calories and continue to measure heart rate as you work out. I also use the amazing myfitnesspal app, that Samsung should be affiliated with, to track food eaten and all my activity and calories burned.
Much more work needed. Too bad the watch wasn't like a phone or app where updates could be done to improve performance.

I love it. I used to never wear a watch, but don't know how I got by without it. It's nice to be able to walk away from my phone and still have messages push to me.
Pros: Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, reliable

I was wanting a wearable device that would track my steps without having my S5 on me all the time. I liked the larger "made for men" watches but they were just too big and bulky for my arm. I received a "Fitbit" from my work and it worked fine but if I'm going to wear something on my arm I wanted a watch. I also love all the other features it gives me.
Now, my husband want's me to hurry up and upgrade my S5 phone, he always gets my hand-me-downs, so he can have my watch. I told him he would have to get the big bulky one, I was staying with Samsung and it would work with my new phone when I get one...lol
Thank you Samsung for such a great product!

Cons: wish it had a way to listen to music.

I wish it tracked other exercises like the Stair Master or Elliptical. Other than that I really like the design and heart monitor as well as the sleep monitor. If they add the other exercises it will be perfect.

Sleep Walking?

I wake up every morning with 19 steps no more no less, however my sleep monitor says a different story... I also find it cannot measure my heart rate during a workout even after I have taken the watch off and wiped my wrist and the gear fit off from sweat. I am over all happy with the gear fit, however as I got this for the sole purpose of measuring my heart rate during workouts as well as calories burned. Finally, during my run it some home stopped calulating the time...I will try again to make sure i just didnt press reset accidentally... I dont know that this product could exactly be given a 4 star rating due to the fact that it really doesnt measure those when you need it most.

Cons: Did not meet expectations

Love some of the features but...

I really wanted to love this watch, it has so many features that I love for example Find my phone feature. But I bought it as a pedometer and I counted 20 steps before the watch started counting and with other pedometers I could run in place and the steps are counted but not with this one.
And can someone from Samsung explain why I have to look at two different S health screens to get a total of my steps (I am using a Note Edge). This is the most ridiculous and easy to fix situation. Rather than toggling from the watch to the phone combine them.
Example when I have to charge my watch I carry my phone and when I am at work I have my watch on combine those steps together.

Checking my sleep is pretty accurate however, having to set it and turn it off is a pain. Especially when your trying to get the kids to bed and wake them up.
One fix is to have it automatically detect lack of movement for some time and go into sleep mode or on the phone the person can set their bedtime and it goes into sleep mode that way.

It's a beautiful, light weight smart watch that needs an upgrade. It has so many features but the ones that truly count need improvement. (Pedometer, Heart rate, Sleep mode)

It would get 5 stars except for one thing... the re-booting recycle mode. When this phone is working I love it but right now it is on the way back to Samsung to be reset one more time. What ever causes this should be an easy upgrade.
