Simple plug and play? Well, I've been plugging and trying to play for 6 hours with frustrating results; no sound on commercial DVDs, refusal to play others and mind-boggling operating steps to endure to play the few that actually made it through! By far the most useless piece of electronic gear I've ever bought.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Will not work. Windows 10 does not recognize drive. I just read over 30 other reviews with the same results. LG should offer refunds/credits to get a model that works!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This drive worked well for a couple of years of very infrequent use. Then it failed to eject the disc and also could not read the disc. Tried it with different audio discs, then with a video disc - same problem. It just stopped working without warning.

The software they give you for this device is HOT GARBAGE. I expected way more from LG and something that advertises Microsoft Surface compatibility. A thirty dollar coaster is what this is for me at best.

Not great for playing DVDs

I bought this since most newer laptops no longer come with a built-in cd/dvd drive. Was hoping that it would be able to play dvds when on the go. I haven't been able to get anything to play but music cds. It's also not compatible with my smart TV. It burns cds fine, but otherwise this is useless to me!!

Have it 2 months works fine. Copied and burnt CDs to and from iTunes, no problems!
Pros: Style/Design, Performance, easy to use
