I LOVE IT. GREAT TV. IT WAS EASY TO PUT TOGETHER THE PICTURE IS BRIGHT AND BU-TEE-FULL. I HOOK MY 7.1 SURROUND SOUND TO IT ITS LIKE A THEATER IN MY BASEMENT

SUHD performance better than I expected

I have 4 other Samsung TVs: 1) UN55D7000LF 3D; 2) UN78HU9000 UHD 3D 78"; 3) UN55ES7500 3D; and a small TC24C550ND used in our office. This 8500 replaces the 7500. They are used in different areas and floors of the residence.
The new 4K SUHD TV with Nano-crystal Color is really noticeable compared to the 7500, and after only 3 days, I can say the 8500 performance significantly exceeds the 7500 in every respect, and I was very happy with the performance on that.
The area that the 8500 is used is very bright during the day, and the 3D/SUHD brightness capability is very useful for overcoming the living room area which has a large patio door that lets in a lot of light, unless it is completely curtained off. That is generally not practical for most viewing usage (such as football or news). Movies and premium programming (not necessarily 3d or UHD) have excellent quality.
Since I am used to the more elaborate remote controls with direct button access to functions such as 'Tools' etc., the 8500 remote seems a little awkward because there are only 14 buttons and no numeric keypad. However, the pointer function (like on the 9000) is very versatile and covers the necessities that once were access with buttons (like on the 7000 and 7500).

Wonderful viewing pleasure

We have had this TV for 6 months...we believe the 3D feature is better than the movie theatre. The overall picture is clear...some things needed to learn but worked through it...we really enjoy the unit..

Can't recommend if using stand

Love features on Tv and picture is impressive. However, the stand design/manufacture is poor. Placed tv on level counter and screen slanted to left. Measured height difference between lower corners and the left corner was over 3/4" lower than the right corner. My young children noticed it just sitting on the couch looking at the Tv. Contacted Samsung chat and was told to remove stand and reinstall. doing so made no improvement. Returned TV to store and ordered a replacement. A week later i brought replacement home and ... same issue. Tried taking base apart and reinstalling several times with no success. This stripped out plastic screw mount that screw goes into on base plate. I was able to bring closer to level by installing a dime in between the stand base and stand support. I now have an expensive tv with a stripped screw mount and a dime being used to make tv close to level. I am considering returning TV and looking for something else. Bottom line, if you are going to mount on wall, probably a great tv. If you are planning to use the stand i would recommend choosing a different brand or model without this type of stand.
Pros: Bright display, picture is impressive
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, only one set of 3d glasses.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
