I bought this on the thanksgiving sale for 99 and it was sitting on the door for like a month before we decided to use it. This worked amazingly well and pulled out loads of invisible dirt. We were amazed with the power and how quickly the carpet dried.

I would suggest to all my friends !!!

Better than I expected

I bought the SteamVac online during the Thanksgiving sale, and it cost me only $106.24. Can't beat that! It would be probably more to rent a shampooer for a couple of days.
The machine cleaned up my carpet (Light color Berber) at high traffic areas with a couple of old spills that keep resurfacing every time after scrubbing, and this time they are gone for good. I'm impressed.

I wish the clean water tank was a little larger, it only holds about 2 sq. yards worth of solution, so the trips to the sink are quite frequent.
The drying was fast too, a few hours only.

What's great about it: price, effectiveness

I would recommend this to a friend!

Quit working after 3 uses

I had a similar model that lasted for years. I purchased this model and it had ben used 3 times and the brush motor stopped working. I only have 2 rooms of carpet so I was shocked when it stopped working this soon. I called Hoover and they said that I can take it to an approved repair place in downtown Nashvillle. I work during the day so it was very inconvienient for my schedule. Luckily, Best Buy gave me full store credit on it. I payed the extra money and upgraded to the Hoover MaxExtract 60. I haven't used it yet.

What's great about it: great features for the price if it works

What's not so great: Brush motor

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great vac for deep cleaning floors.

The Hoover Steam Vac does a great job and definitely deep cleans carpets. It is very heavy though and cumbersome on stairs. The attachments are very complicated to attach and un-attach but once attached, they work great!

What's great about it: Renews carpet, deep cleans.

What's not so great: Heavy, cumbersome, difficult to manage attachments.

I would recommend this to a friend!

We have been really happy with the job this little baby has done. As I said, the lever that releases the water broke, but fortunately for us we did purchase the extended warranty. BB took it back no questions asked, and had the new one shipped directly to our door. It cost us ZERO. Also, it looks like the improved the part that broke on ours...so this one may last longer!!

What's great about it: Really takes the stains out!

What's not so great: A part on it broke. Lucky for us we purchased the extended warrenty.

Screwy Gaskets

The return water unit has a rubber gasket that does not work to keep the suction going.
We got one and used it a little over an hour and the suction stopped.
We took it back, got another one and it did the same thing, only in less than 10 minutes.
We took it back and got our money back.
We won't get another one. And we are back to renting a machine.

What's great about it: It cleans

What's not so great: the gasket on the water return unit

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

New puppy spots

I bought this because I got a new puppy and I have a 13 year old and it has done wonders for my carpet. The smelll is gone and the spots are gone.

2 - Don't think I'll go for a 3rd.

I am a review junkie and when I read the reviews on this hoover, I was excited to purchase it. I paid $159 and thought that it would be well worth the money. I did buy a 2 year warranty through BB for another $20. I got home, and shampoo'd my living room. I thought it was good. My favorite thing, the carpet dried SO fast. I tried many different cleaning solutions in it to see which I liked best, and still love my Bissell pet one (smells so good). I did find I had to go over things a lot more with this machine than with a regular shampooer, but, I was fine with that for the price. Until I went to use it the 2nd time a couple of weeks later to do a bedroom. The suction would not work. I tried everything ... it just wouldn't work. So went back to Best Buy and I was within my 30 days so they just exchanged it out. I thought surely that I just happened to get a dud. I got home, put the new one together... and the brushes don't work! Really??? So, this is today and I already have the box in my van and about to load this one up. I really don't think I should even try for a 3rd even though it's said that "3rd times a charm". I think I'll go rent a rug doctor on the way home!

What's great about it: Carpet dries quickly

What's not so great: One lost suction, and then bristles don't work. Wasting my time!

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
