An experimental laboratory in which animals have been infected with the virus of a disease for which a cure was being sought is invaded by an animal rights group and the animals let loose on the population. The plague almost instantly affects humans who spread it rapidly among themselves until the Island which is the United Kingdom is depopulated of all but a few unaffected individuals and many infected ones. It would appear that the larger world has also been affected but that is not directly of consequence for the plot. As we have seen in frequent theatrical and television productions recently, a few survivors come together and seek to find some other group(s) like themselves with whom, somehow, they can ride out the storm, so to speak, until they can recreate some form of group life again.
Nothing in this is new on the media scene today. What struck me sufficiently to single this movie out is simply the high quality with which every aspect of the process was performed. It's a case of doing roughly the same job only doing it better.
If your taste runs to this subgenre, you will not want to miss this film. If you want to see what model is being used by such films, this is a good one to try, since there is less visible violence and bloodletting than is to be found in the average of the type. I am not an aficionado, but found this rather simple version quite interesting to watch.

28 Days Later Blu-ray a bomb...

The HighDefDigest review of this release is 100% accurate, unfortunately. This Blu-ray is down right terrible as far as picture quality is concerned with the exception of the final scene which was apparently shot with a better camera than the rest of the film.
Supposedly the director was going for some sort of look when he decided to film the entire movie with a European model Canon XL-1s standard-definition camcorder at 720x576 resolution. So the transfer is barely, if at all, better than the DVD so best not to waste your money on this one if you already own the DVD as I did. I figured it would be even a little step up and it just looks like garbage by comparison to the other blu-rays. Supposedly the audio is much better, but I don't have a sound system to check that out for myself.
I recommend a pass on this title for Blu-ray
What's great about it: Great movie and the audio is a step up from the DVD supposedly
What's not so great: Not worth upgrading from DVD as PQ is terrible
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

worst blu ray do this date

This movie is awesome too bad the blu ray version is really horrible. This movie was done really bad on blu ray I bought it at best buy for fifteen bucks but the movie is not even worth that. I also have the regular dvd and it is much better than this version, please don't buy this blu ray version and just enjoy the regular dvd.

What's not so great: visual
