My husband bought this for me for my birthday in September and I love it! The splash guard is something that I didn't have with my last one. Works great! Used it to enter the top chef competiton and I won 1st place!!!!!

I bought my first kitchenaid stand mixer in 1985 and used it for 22 years. My children heard me making comments about how I would love to have one of the beautiful Red mixers so for Christmas they all went together and got me a new one. My original mixer was still perfect so I gifted it to my sister.

The Most Versatile Mixer!

I waited a while to see how I felt about the stand mixer, before I wrote this to be sure that I wasn't just rejecting the "new" thing out of hand, and I saw so many of the cooking show people using one I thought I had to be crazy. But, I'm not, the thing is awkward.
1. to scrape down a bowl, you have to turn it off and raise that heavy thing, lower it, turn it back on and resume mixing and repeat that step again and again every time you add more dry and wet ingredients. Making my Christmas deserts was exhausting, and I skipped the pound cake.
I'll leave it at one objection. In fairness, I know that the things I mentioned are safety measures and we're a sue-happy society. But this is so awkward to use I made a simple cake last Sunday and grabbed the hand mixer.
As a bit of history, I'm not new to stand mixers, I cook a lot(we have 4 children and 12 grandchildren) and used an Oster stand mixer with lots of attachments until the gears stared changing speeds on their own(after 28 years of heavy use). and, would have gladly bought another, but they don't make them anymore.
I haven't tried the attachments we bought with this one yet, just the mixer, maybe they will be wonderful.
I'm excited about the grain grinder.
